A simple thread was made to pay respect to someone who lost his life. Irrespective of his selfless service to something greater to himself it was just a thread to offer condolences.

And you capitalized on that moment to air your opinions in a tactless manner and simply ruined an otherwise finr thread dedicated to someone who has just been killed.

The politics are a mute point. Pat was a man of character and a selfless servant of his nation.

You Norm are a piece of shi T.

On April 4th I was nearly killed here in Najaf while serving as well. The details are immaterial other than I too could have made the news as another casualty as my teamates had four days before. But things didnt work out that way for us as some of you may have read in the papers.

And it irritates me to know that had anyone posted a comment of warmth to my family or friends you would have ruined that too.

Sit your jelly asz in your Ferrari and wrap it around a tree.

    With absolute sincerity,
    Frogman

Really don't have much to add w/o risk of embellishing and echoeing others' sentiment but just want to tell you:

    - I can't thank you enough for your sacrifice.
    - I am glad you returned home and are here with us today.

    God bless, man.

Well, to hell with it. Norman, I suspect I too am going to be upset with you as well. We shall see.

Well-said, Frogman, well-said. This is why I, too, called the Huffer a POS in the thread in question...because he is. Usually, people who are this mean-spirited, bitter, and hateful lead empty lives and are sexually impotent.

On another topic, thank you for your service. You, like Pat & so many others, honor us by serving.

In an earlier life, I did CT field work for the DOS (CT & DipSec groups), but you guys took (and still take) the cake for putting it all on the line, 24/7/365, and for playing as a team so well.

"I am in the United States Marine. I fight for all of you. I do not require your thanks or respect. I absolutly do not. The fact that you give it fills my heart sometimes. For you I serve, I protect, I fight, I die. For you."

That norm just pisses me off. Who said spoken like a true frenchman?

Next time he calls 911 to get help, I hope they pass. (Cept they will not. They are pros and not the coward he is, huh?)

    Well said Frogman.....

I sat in a tank for 6 years in Europe for a singular purpose during the late 70's.......

All I can add is that if I was a piece of shiite I'd be awfully mad at you for comparing me to the poster you mentioned.

    Thank you for your sacrifice.

    Frogman,

Thnak you for your service. Little do people realize just how risky your work is. While I served in the Navy during Vietnam I befriended several Navy Seals. I had no idea how tough these guys were until I got to know them. And they never spoke of their exploits. It was like it was all done in the line of duty with no thanks due. But what hit home to me is when we heloed in six Seals somewhere up north around Haiphong harbor and we were only able to recover three the next night. The remaining three would say nothing other than their friends died for the good of the group. They did not think they were heroes but they were in my book and remain so today.

You guys who do it daily deserve a big thank you from all of us back home and I want to add mine. You and Dr. Strangelove and anyone else here who serves or has served for the good of the country and your countrymen. I raise a glass to you. ........................................

I am posting this to honor those, like Frogman, who risk it all so that we can freely debate here:

"On April 4th 2004, Ten Blackwater contractors protecting the CPA
headquateres in Najaf were assaulted by several thousand Shiite Muslim
protesters. 600 members of the Mahdi army assaulted from three directions
The BW commandos aided by one Marine and four El Salvadorian commando
fought them off for hours. Three of us were wounded. We killed 120 and
wounded 300 approx. The fight ended three days later and only today at 1300 hours did we receive support and relief from the 1st Infantry Division.."

All this can be read on the net. See the Washington Post article by Dana
Priest (also reprinted in many other papers yesterday).

These pics are of the BW guys who fought them off and retook the hospital
    and surrounding buildings.

All men are to recieve the Silver Star.

They were down to their last rounds and prepared to die, but not to run.

Frogman, I honor your service and your commitment to freedom.

However, I'm hesitant to condone these types of 'callout' flaming threads attacking a single poster. He admitted his own deficiency in the other thread and he's being thoroughly thrashed there. Having been at the receiving end of a flaming thread long ago on a much different board, I know it can be very disconcerting personally. Surely nothing compared to what you are going through right now in Iraq, but I do think that this thread should be eliminated and your pictures reposted in a positive thread dedicated to you (which I would support wholeheartedly), as opposed to an attacking thread berating a member for openly confessing a fault.
