no need now Steve... Head of IT has come up trumps and has sorted out the Co firewall so that it doesn't block F.Chat any more.

In that case I presume you'll be coming up the M18 and across the M62? If so meet up with me and steveF at J34... or my house which is 90 seconds south of J34 on the A19.

If Steve's on for that that is?

It is up to you chaps whether we go cross country or motorway from say the junction of M1/M62.....i seem to recall suggesting alternative routes earlier in this thread.
I would imagine we would meet mark and rick @ M6 services. (unless we go motorway - M60)
9am from steve f's is not enough time.
    Steve.....have kettle on monday !
    cheers, d

What time do you guys think you'll be hitting the M6 ? I can do any time for the M6 services.

I know Simon came over on the M56 last time (it was quicker for him) - might be an option for you ie skirt past the M62 traffic and enjoy some country roads.

Justin - are you meeting us at the M6 services too ?

I suggest, justin.....M180 west; M18 north; M62 west; meet with steve f, burriana and geoff (???) @ J34 at say 0815 hrs (the first junction you hit after joining the M62) then on toward M1/M62 intersection.

Take M1 south to J37 (barnsley) and take a right, meet me, and onward on A628 (woodhead pass).......we could meet simon on the dam, at the intersection of the B6105 (good photo spot), by the reservoir.

Back on A628; M60 south; M56 west and meet wi t'others.

For the early starters, meeting at ten on M6 may be a tad early (and traffic slightly heavier).....an hour later perhaps ???....I'll go with the flow.

    regards, david

    Guys,

I will be going straight to Oulton Park, arriving around 1:00pm due to business needs in the morning.

Oulton Park is fairly close to me (30 miles) - so no Motorway routes.

Hope to meet up with you - so if you hear some idiot with a 348TS asking if you are a fellow fchatter - it will be me.

Unless of course I spot a bunch of F Cars in the nearest pub beforehand.

    Cheers

    john

I know I'm only the new boy, and I am prepared to be shot down in flames but...
BEWARE THE A628 WOODHEAD PASS!!!! Certainly at that time in the morning which is still rush hour. I tried it (only once) when I was looking for alternative routes into Manchester. It's lovely, then you hit Tintwistle and the traffic stops, and I mean dead! It's stop, start from there on in. My normal 40 minute trip took 2 hours that way. At first I thought it was an accident or something, then I saw all the placards in peoples gardens, "Give us our bypass - now!" "Unblock Tintwistle" and so on.

The M62, although busy, will only really be busy around the top of Manchester from J18 to J12 then we can swing off onto the Liverpool stretch and be going against the commuters.

However - this is based on only one instance and if one of you guys has more experience of the route and reckon it's ok then I will gladly fall in with the majority.

Leaving J34 @ 08.15 would have us hitting M1 J37 about 40 mins later, sooo, we probably wouldn't hit Tintwistle until nearly 09.30, which may be a lot better than 07.30 when I tried it.

SteveF, Kenyon & Polartech - as you come off the M62 westbound at J34, turn left and immediately (c100 yards) you will see a big driveway entrance to Tunstall Telecom on the left. How about we meet there? or there is a minor road dead opposite, whichever provides best stopping place.

I will be there about 8am, if we aim to leave at 08.15. If it's any help, to J34 it's 25 mins from South Cave and 20 mins from M180/M18 junction at a steady 70-80.

    See you then.

From Manchester to Warrington the traffic is "normally" OK (ie up to 70mph - not Steve's 170mph !!). The M6 Southbound from the M62 can be a bit busy though.

I can meet at the services anytime - just let me know what's best for you early risers.
