Touch of slight snow in Sheffield and on the Snake Pass. Think best is to check first thing in the morning and decide if go or no go. Will post at approx 8:00. Mark
Weather looks good, roads drying fast. ITS A GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SEE YOU ALL AT JCT600 AT 10:30 If you check this note please indicate if you are going Mark
Windy as hell here this morning. Snow on the way? Who cares! I am up and about to set off.....If the worst happens, than we can still have a coffee and a natter at JCT. Here we go! Ed
Weather in Wakefield good, bit windy, but bright and sunny. Not sure if its a roof off day! See you soon............. MOD.
As long as it's not raining , it's always a roof off day! Have fun today and pls post some pics. Tony
Ok.... I am back home, and a little disapointed! Sorry I didn't make it to the Manifold Inn and hopefully you got my message! I originally thought I had a puncture and stopped to check that. It wasn't flat so I carried on for a bit to find a strange vibration. I decided it was the driveshaft and called Karl at Verdi for advice. Karl pointed at a loose wheel, and hey Presto, rear wheel hanging off! Held on by the end of 3 bolts, but all 5 still connected! How Lucky! To add to it, a passing AA van, made sure of a quick repair and we were back on our way. We made it to the A619 after a spirited run to try and catch up. Unfortunately we then made a wrong turn and our lack of realisation caused us to try to catch up, in the wrong direction. By the time Phil spotted it, the damage was done. We abandoned somewhere near Chesterfield and got to the M1 for the sad journey home! What a great route! Congrats to all involved in the organisation. I really hope we can use that route again in the summer! Thanks to all! Great to meet you! Ed
Nice to meet you all. Apologies likewise for not making it to the pub but was running a bit late and needed to be back for 4. Fantastic roads once the traffic was clear. Simon - that Tubi really was loud, even 50 yds behind you I could clearly hear it (over and above Mark's - loud too). Award of the day to Ed for driving with the roof down in the snow - hope the bearing repair isn't too heavy on the pocket. I'll post some pics on another thread. Catch you all soon. Rick
Ed,sorry about your car mate,I had exactly the same thing happen on the way to Le Mans last year, really bad vibration on the throttle, pulled onto hard shoulder on M25,sure enough wheel nearly off..very lucky. Yea it was good to meet you all, funny watching peoples reactions with 4 355's and the 328 in convoy! If anyones got some more photos bang em on..I've got even more of a thing for tunnels than I had before now!We must all do it again,ta to Mark for organising it
Simon The funniest thing I have ever seen was coming through Holmfirth. I was behind you and a guy painting his windows turned, whilst on his ladder, to see 4 brigft red F'cars at a standstill outside his house, you launched off at full speed with the tubi howling, poor guy fell off his ladder. Great to see everyone. Route was a bit long and to much traffic but hey this is a learning curve. Steve288 ?????? we were all waiting for the 288. Mark
Thanks for organising it Mark. Was nice to hear the tubi's! Was a good day until my heater matrix decided to pop, got the AA man out (the same one who helped you Ed) who by-passed the matrix enabling us to get home. Turns out the AA man builds and races Caterham style cars with superbike engines in! Thanks for stopping Ed, much appreciated. MOD.
Really good day yesterday, perhaps a few more F cars next time. Good to meet everyone, and a big thankyou to JCT 600 for the coffee and the ENZO,thanks to mark for organising it,look forward to the next one. P.S AT LEAST WE ONLY ATTRACTED ONE WOULD BE RALLY STAR !
