    Wow, blast from the past. I installed this exact radio in my VW Rabbit back around 1984 I think. As I recall the round black DIN plug could be connected to a matching larger Alpine amplifier for more power if desired. Alpine offered several amps...I got one of course. :)

    You are correct, alpine offered many options. I love their kit, looks so good in the dash :cool:
