I'm pretty sure that lap time posted above is for the E39 400hp M5, not the E60 M5 in 400hp mode. Off the top of my head, it was around 8:12 I believe, in 500hp mode. Something tells me it broke the 8 minute mark, but that 8:12 is stuck in my head.

1.42 is correct. After the lap firetrucks were sent out to extinguish the burning pavement. The wind force uprooted all trees within 100 meters of the track. The sonic booms were heard in bordering countries.
    Next question.

ok, are you being serious about lap time or just being funny?

if that is correct than it is one fast car. i also read car and driver about viper coupe vs new z06. clearly, z06 is fast track car but test drivers said it is very hard to drive fast. i wounder what they mean by hard car to driver? is it hard for regular drivers or even for experienced track drivers?

if you have 360 how would you rate your cars handling? is it hard for easy? for me 360 was very easy to driver around the track and i got great lap times.

    hahaha

I have a video of the new E60 M5 ring taxi being driven around the Nurburgring from onboard, but it is a lap with passengers in it, not a hotlap.

I read somewhere that the new M5 is around 8 minutes flat. That's (non CS) 360 territory.

I know the Vette times pretty well as I frequent those boards. The former Z06 was 7:56, the current Z51 C6 is 7:59 and the new Z06 is 7:43.

yes Sabin's time in the new ring taxi is usually around 8 minutes and 10 seconds.

I'd also like to see how reproducible that Z06 time is, all ring times take into account problems from traffic, and since few magazines have been able to reproduce Chevy's performance numbers for the car, I wouldn't be surprised if they took the liberty of splicing sector times on different test laps to get a lap time that is dangerously close to supercar time.

Not that I don't think the Z06 is very cool, just after getting in one and having it feel soo... GM... and after pulling off the engine garnish and seeing the 5 minute **** job done wrapping the coil packs, it's still not in the same league as a 430, or even a Ford GT.
