From veterans no less, Is just plain rude. Others running into this? I can't see why a quick response however short is putting someone all out. This is how F-car owners get an arrogant bad name. my 2 cents. Robb Williamson
LOL, boy am i glad i just responded to your PM... i just saw this post after i replied... In their defense, sometimes i get a PM and don't have a chance to respond until later or the next day or sometimes, the next week... Just my 2 Rubles...
I forget to look up there and then after a while notice it and wonder how long its been there. I always have the sound "off" on my computer, so if it makes a beep or something I'd never hear it. BTW does it make any sound when a message shows up?
In control panel /edit options, you can set it to send you an email when you receive a pm. I had the same problem of reciving a pm, and not reading it for days because I didn't see it at the top.
Oddly enough, it seems rude to me to demand that someone else communicate with you, and to complain if they fail to meet your demands quickly enough. Really, no different in outlook than a telemarketer, or someone who complains about someone else not carrying a cell phone.
Not like I'm selling something or asking touchy questions. Just interested in the marque and any pitfalls with ownership. I think after waiting 30 days, it is obvious they are choosing not to respond. And I don't think I'm calling their cell while they're putting on the 18th green. That being said, there are many courteous owners out there helping out as they can and I personnally appreciate the advice. Robb (not a telemarketer) Williamson
My take on it is that I don't really mind responding to PMs, but I also don't think there is any obligation for the receiver of one. I have had a couple PMs go unanswered before, but I don't think that it is worthwhile to let it get to you. Unless of course you know the other user or have established some sort of positive realtionship with the person Sduke, I have been very busy this week and will try to get back to you shortly
No response could mean a few different things. You seemed (clearly) to take it personaly and I wouldn't. Sometimes we all get caught up in other things. Also, I'm pretty new to this board and I don't notice the PM thing much. Could be the same for this person. I would suggest you PM or email the person again to make sure he / she read it. - Chill out, not responding does not = arrogant Most people on the board seem very friendly......
This is a subject that I pondered today. I get about 4 pm's a day. Most on questions on Lambo's. I went through the older stuff today and found 5 or 6 that I had not responded to at all. I felt guilty about it, but really should not. Some are questions like" how did you make enough money to get 20 cars, or 3 Lambo's." I put that stuff to the side, and sometimes dont respond. When someone has a question about a potential purchase, and they are asking advise, I try to answer. I dont mind the pm's at all, I like them. Sometimes they fall through the cracks. I dont have an answer, but I would think if someone is not answered, in most cases it was just missed.
Sduke, I have been very busy this week and will try to get back to you shortly[/QUOTE] John LOL!! Don't worry about it. When it is convenient for you....it is good for me. Thanks again.
Thats what I imagined. Good luck with everything and thanks for the help to the site. (we need more lambo owners to round off the site better )
Agreed. I also get quite a few PMs (I welcome them all) and have probably failed to respond to one or two somewhere along the way. I would suggest sending a follow-up, such as, "Just checking to see if you received my previous message."
I despise the PM, prefer email. Does F-Chat have it so u can enable the PM feature, and can you request a receipt of when it was read? If a constructive PM is written with good intent, a response is warranted. PMs can be beneficial for advice and contact regarding parts/repairs. Asking how someone affords their car defeats the purpose of a lowkey exotic car messageboard, and it's downright pretentious. THAT is why my sn pokes fun at my limited interest in these beautiful, yet nonsensical to maintain Ferraris. $$$$$ If folks don't plan to reply to fellow enthusiasts, they should not enable the PM feature. Emptying the pm box becomes a PITA, IMO.
Gives kind of a bad image to get no reply. I try to reply as soon as I can (PM, email). Some people are real nice and just say "I'll get back to you later" (and they do!) ... very classy.
Ryalex, I have managed to down the "low" dose of prescribed medication. It did take a strong chaser though. Thank You. I have to say that the members always make my laugh my ass off at least once per day with their very creative attachments and equally hilarious points. My favorite, ever, was the "cup of shut up" in another thread. I appreciate everyone's words of wisdom, enjoy the forum, and look forward to picking up great info on the way to giving the 911 a roommate. Robb Williamson
I think that it is simple courtesy to answer to a pm. I know that we could get a kid 's question, but why not respond with just a few words and make his day. We do spent time on stupid subjects so why not a few minutes to answer. This got to stay a fun chat !!!!! Roland F40LM
Is there a way to be notified when you have a PM ? another board I belong to actually pops up a window if you have a PM. The reason I ask, is 10 days ago someone sent me a PM and if it had not been for this thread I would not have checked my PM's. I replied to him and apologized for not replying earlier but I never thought anyone would PM me...oops. I will go check now to see if I can be notified but thought I would ask also. Mike
I can't believe this thread is still active! I tried to stay out of it but ROBB.... WTF? I pity you if you have to spend a day in NYC or LA alone! You don't know pain, bud! Stay up in your safe and cushy mountains. DL
I have PMed a few people, about half get responses back. I'm no ferrari owner so the few PM's I've sent have been to people who I see are in a certain business/work field that I'm interested in learning about to gain some knowledge. But I understand that work/family/time spent driving ferraris/talking about ferraris/sleeping (which results in dreaming about ferraris) takes up time and realistically, a response is not warrented at all.
