I've had 37383 for about 5 weeks now and 600 miles. I decided it was time for a little TLC:

    (1) New shoes (TRXs); $211 a pop. Ugghhh. Piece of mind with new tires. It took some Goo-Gone to get rid of the old, wheel-weight residue. Ahhh...

    (2) Driver door outer handle would not function. The cable had snapped so I replaced it with a section from a wire coat hanger. Works better and is smoother than the passenger side with the factory cable. Bullet proof design, thank you very much. Ahhhh...

    (3) Seven inch tear on the rear, upper headliner. It would flap in the wind at highway speed. It only would have become worse and I didn't feel like dropping the $350-400 on a new one. So, I repaired the tear with Pro Seal; same stuff used on the Apache. Looks great. Ahhhh....

    (4) Checked coolant (not just the level, duhh...). Four floatin' bubbles on the indicator. No need to change. Ahhh...

    (5) Drained engine oil; boy, did it need it. :) Replaced with Mobil 1 15W50. Ahhh....

    (6) Drained transmission/clutch fluids. It looked pretty good; very small amount of "sludge" (about a tea spoon) from what I consider ordinary use. Replaced with Mobil 1 75W90 (couldn't find 80W90), Energy Release and Oil Stabilizer. Not huge, but noticable improvement in shift smoothness. Ahhhh...Boy, does 75W90 and 80W90 stink, huh?? Even when new. :

    (7) Cut clear, plastic covers to protect the original mats. Ahhh...

    (8) Saddle soaped the leather. Nu-Polished and Quick Detailed the car. Ahhh...

    (9) Best of all, went for a drive. Ahhh...

Rewarding work brings piece of mind.

Nice car. Glad to hear your bringing it back to a happy life. BTW my mechanic does not recommend using synth oil for the classic / vintage cars as sometimes it will 'find' a leak where there was none previously. Read the thread here where several people attest to this phenomenon. I don't think one round with synth will hurt, but next change you might want to go back to dino oil. Keep the upgrades and service coming, soon the car will be like new!

Saddle soap is not good for the leather. Get some leatherique rejuvinator oil to treat the leather a couple times and year and it will stay looking great.

    Looks Great!

I've been using synthetic oil in my car now for a while, with no leaks.

For leather, I use lexol (available off the shelf).

What is the Pro Seal stuff you used?

No leaks at all with Mobil 1 in my GTB. I do however strongly recommend 0W 40 Mobil 1. Lots of threads on this subject and after trying several oils I could not believe how much nicer cold starts are with no consumption of any kind.
