This was posted on a local car forum here in Des Moines, IA. Of course the forum assumes its a Fiero chassis...

wow, really hard to say. I zoomed in to try to see oddities, but I can't find anything. The tow hook hole is there, the air guide behind the front grill is there, everything seems well proportioned. It looks pretty real to me. The good fiero replica is pretty impressive, but there is something that bugs me when I look at it. The barn find doesn't do this to me...

    Again, hard to say.

    Real.

For all the reasons mentioned and the 2nd and 4th door strakes are thicker than the others.

I vote real. Horsies in headrest, seat belt tracks, too hard to fake.

    Dear Ferraristi,

I don't think the two pictures are of the same car. I say the first pix is fake and the second is real.

    - very long base on mirrors before they split to mirror.

    - duel split elements on the mirror are too long

    - there's nothing behind the AC condenser intake ( you can see the concrete driveway)

    - behind the front grill on the driver side, the brake duct is missing and you can see the concrete driveway)

    - HVAC intake grill in front hood seems to have very wide spacing between each vertical element

    - Ferrari hood badge is set too high in front hood

    - wiper arm on passenger side matches driver side. ( passenger wiper arm is angled and has a curve in the arm. It will not sit parallel to the driver side.

    - fog light lenses do do not have the correct refractive pattern in them

    - front end of strakes are too thick and stick out too far

    - in the first pix, you can't see the black area or the motorized belt

    - no tow hook hole in the first pix

First one is fake....second one is real. ( you can't go by the grill horse as it was not OEM anyways...the first one is too large though )

    Dear Ferraristi,

Geez.....I thought it was being said the two pictures were of the same car. The TR in the leaves is real.

It fits all the elements I mentioned....except for the mirror stuff.

I can understand the caution tape. That car is ready to bite someone for being left like that.

Sorry, didn't intend to confuse anyone. My post #4 shows the replica (from the Fiero forum) on the left to compare it with a real TR (pic on the right).

The one in the leaves is the subject of this thread.

I'm going to see if I can track this down. Over on the VW forum I got that from they are having dreams of buying this for 5k and flipping it. I'm thinking that's a money pit right there.

    $5K!?

That price reminds me of a Radiohead tune …”Nice Dream”.

The pollen and wind / rain this time of year in the South East can make a car look like that in days. Car may have only sat there a short time, so i would not be too worried its "abused" or abandoned. Neat find, but doubt its its a big deal.

That replica sure does look nice! I would have no doubts that it was real if I saw it going down the road! I know this forum does not like replicas, but I must give my "hats off" to the person that built it! Not to criticize or nitpick, but the only thing I immediately saw was that the front hood emblem may have been mounted up a bit too high. It would look better if mounted a bit closer to the front bumper.

Heck, they're money pits when they're in good condition. :)

That said, it could be a fun project and depending on the condition of everything, it could make some sense dollar wise.
