I was bored, so heres some I took a while back. Plus I haven't been posted here in months, not to mention browsed.
Theirs also pics I took while prepping the valve covers to be painted. I used an old hot rodders trick to paint only what I wanted by putting masking tape around the areas that I wanted to not see paint, and then using a razor blade to "etch" out the parts I wanted to paint. Total prep time for the valve covers took 5-6 hours of taping and "etching". Yes, I realize that's a lot of time to actually do all that, but theirs no sign of overspray. You can also line the inside of your sockets with masking tape to avoid scratching painted/chromed bolts and parts. I also polished/sanded those aluminum valve covers, those were NASTY. I painted the 24 Valve and stripes red, then taped it off and etched out the Toyota and 3000 to be painted black. Masking tape also works well as a bandage in order to wrap up cuts that you get from using the razor blade . After I was done painting all that (which I don't have final pix of yet!) I sanded finished it with a cpl of layers of clear coat to finish it off. I also stripped and sanded the "third valve cover" or that long narrow thing with holes between the valve covers. I hated that JP green thats always used, so I decided to paint it black, and concluded that with clear coat as well. Oh, and this is all high-temp automotive engine paint, just to let you know!

I also painted the exhaust manifold and heat sheilds. Not to mention I went overboard on the newspaper on the car so as not to get black paint on the car. I have no before and after pics of the heat shield, but it looked like the exhaust manifold, so one can use some imagination on that part! I also sanded down and stripped the heat shield to prep for the paint with the help my freind and "brother", Russell. I've also painted the throttle linkage, and throttle body black as well by stripping and sanding down. It's much nicer now, and I will try to post pix by this weekend. I've also painted and cleaned up some other things, as well a replace various wires with wire loom. With the new pics you will be able to see how exactly the valve covers and everything else looks.

On a final note this was all done by hand.

Engine pic. No before pic right now, but it looked like the undercarriage.

Looks like good work! Some day I have to get around to a box of filthy P-car 928 intake runners & get them looking as nice as that.
