What is your favorite Mondial when it comes to its sound? Share your experience and don't be afraid to consider non stock configurations ...

    Example:

    Mondial T
    Tubi exhaust and headers
    Testpipes
    RPM: 5k to redline
    from cockpit

For myself I have heard a stock Mondial 8, a T with a modded exhaust and, of course, my 3,2 which is actually stock.

I liked the 8 and my 3,2. For the T I wasn't totally pleased with the new exhaust but I think that I would prefer the 3,4 sound in the low rev.

    Mondial 3,2
    stock
    RPM: 4k to redline
from cockpit as well as from outside

Rachel, my 92 Mondial t Cab - Valeo equipped, was exhaust stock when I bought her. I can honestly say with no reservation, that I somehow made the right choices as regards exhaust upgrades. First I added Hyperflow cats to the stock can - little better sound - my brain told me that I felt a power increase too :)
But a bit later I added the XOST muffler--------------------Oh baby!!!! :) Now my exhaust was like a great lady. Rachel would whisper sweet nothings in my ear in anything from idle to the 2k - 3k range (just a beautiful, rich sound with no eardrum discomfort) - and then scream like a banshee when approaching redline. And get this - smog cert, no problemo:)

    Cheers & Happy Holidays,

    Hank

    Hank,
OK, now I want my "T" to whisper the same things to me, where can I get the X-ost? I will get my Hyperflows from Daniel at Ricambi.

    Hi Stephane,

I got both products from Daniel but I don't see the XOST system offered on his website lately. I'm sure a call to him will yield a direction for you to head in.

    Cheers, Hank

    Hi Hank,
We have been stashing cash away in a cookie jar for just your setup. Not there yet but one day. . . What level of XOST did you get? Did you get the racing version or something less? We would like to be able to have a conversation in our Family Ferrari at say 3,000rpm and I am afraid the racing version might be too loud.

    Happy Holidays!
    Dave

i previously ran a stock T with Tubi & K&N filter. Very nice mix of sounds through the rpm range. Emptying the stock cat pipes creates the perfect back pressure plus lovely low rpm rumble !

    Hank -
Let me help you here - Rachel is whispering " why the hell are you lugging me around between 2 to 3 thousand rpm?"

Hey there, - A super-model walks the runway. But really, somewhere in that range, while driving in first, behind my townhome complex or the shopping mall parking lot, the resonance can drive one crazy. Being an ex movie sound guy with decades of just listening to stuff, I don't like it when "sound becomes noise". From zero to 7500, Rachel is my personal Italian opera:) She'll sing for me a bit later today.......................

    Happy Holidays, Russ..

And a supermodel she is indeed.

Hmmm. You know I really like Russ's throttle sound, and Hank's car just visually blows me away... So there is some luv for both of you guys.

As for my T... My car had a Borla on it with full cats years ago and I really liked the sound at idle - from the back bumper. But I yearned for more high RPM howl from all angles. So I went with a Stebro and enjoyed it for a while - but found that it lacked that idle sound of the Borla. Then I got lassoed into a Tubi as I was looking for the best of both worlds.

    So...

    Mondial T
    Tubi Muffler
    Testpipes
    RPM: 3k to 6K @ WOT
    from cockpit

Anyone ever just leave the stock cats on and just run a straight exhaust from there out the back ? Tips with inserts ? On a Mondial t ?

Yes, I did that once on my t. I still have the custom pipes. It was pretty darn loud, and I got about a mile before I took them back off. But it was all business for that mile!

Looks nice. What type of tips are those ? Do the inserts in the Ansa tips do much ?

Borla w/cats, Borla w/o cats, Stebro no cats, open pipes w/cats, open pipes w/o cats, Tubi w/o cats. And a partridge in a pear tree.

In my experience the Ansa resonated tips tend to smooth out the sound.
