I hate to say it, but Ferrari has been saying tough luck when the car arrives NOT as ordered for years (maybe forever?). I've heard this same story about custom details not matching an order many times over my 30+ years as a Ferrari owner. I'm sure they would prefer to get special orders correct, and it really shouldn't be that hard to actually confirm the order matches the car along a hand-built production line, before it is shipped out. After all, they do have "Quality Control" inspectors on the production line... Unfortunately attention to detail doesn't seem to be their strong point, or they have determined some errors aren't worth addressing, along with the confidence that if the car isn't exactly as ordered and gets refused, someone else will surely buy the car... so no skin lost on their part.

But, I also believe it's a symptom of the company's confidence that folks with lots of money will keep coming back to buy Ferrari status symbols/cars, even if they weren't exactly as ordered. It has engendered a certain amount of, dare I say it.. arrogance. If a few disgruntled buyers jump to a competitor after refusing a car, I believe Ferrari management is similarly confident those same folks will come back sooner or later. It is the Ferrari cachet that keeps folks (like most of us) tethered. After all, it's not like we're going to start our own car company (like Lamborghini did when Enzo allegedly refused to talk to him about Ferrari issues). Right?

As you say, arrogance bred of an excess of demand over supply. Not going to change. And, as you have referenced, it is entirely in character with the way the founder behaved!

The dealer is the liaison. They "should" assist any way they can to help. I've managed at 3 powersports dealers in my life, and whenever there was an issue like this, we'd do whatever it took to make it right. Unfortunately in the retail / service business, there are tiers of customers that dealers will help at different levels. I try really hard not to do that with my business now. I hope they help you.

I would think that the big part of buying new is to get exactly what you want. If you don't get what you want why not just buy a used model with a few thousand miles and save the big depreciation hit.

For me if I spent that kind of money and didn't get exactly what I ordered I'd walk, but of course everyone is different.

The horse is dead but the horseman is very happy......!! Never even thought of not taking the car, that would be foolish. 488 GTB is total BA! Getting used to the black tach and like a lot of the smart posts have said, at the end of the day, disappointing but not devastating. The car totally hauls a$$ and I am very happy with it. Have been gone for most of this week and went out to the garage to take a look at her, pat her on the behind, and had a big grin on my face. That is what it is like to own a Ferrari!!
