    Interesting thread dongerdude...a while back, I was playing around with Google Earth trying to find the "Hollywood" sign in LA (yes, I know that's sad, especially since I couldn't find it) and I came across the most amazing home...looked like the Sydney Opera House from the air. I will try to find it again and take a screen cap.

    its difficult to find. its easier to look for its shadow, and slight white lines that are the actual sign

    34*08'02" N, 118*19'19" W

    that should help you find it. also google maps has a new feature that apparenly links sat images to images people have taken from the ground kinda like thumbnails. just get close and mouse-over the thumbnails for the one called "hollywood sign" (theres like 10 in the surrounding area)
