Having owned my first Ferrari for a year and a couple of days, I thought I would post up some year one spend for others looking to take the plunge, note I bought mine trade with no warranty expecting a few service items would have been missed, also chased down an AC issue that has been in the history file for over 5 years. I expect next year to be much better as many service items are caught up now. All figures are GBP.

Ferrari 612, 2006, start mls 40,007, mls to date 44,243

All the bold will not be required again anytime soon.

    600 road tax
    380 insurance
210 Handbrake shoes (internet find OEM)
950 all ball joints and 6 bushings
    250 track rod ends

    60 Aircon re gas
420 Air con ECU (not required in the end)
    131.48 Mirror control switch
    201 Air con pump rebuild
    448 Donor air con pump
    30.97 parking sensor
    30 parking sensor paint (TDF)

    20.90 drivers side wiper blade
85 spare key repair and code
    798 Annual service
    45 Mot
470 mechanic labour ball joints, track rod ends and pdc sensor
1639.13 Free off calliper nipples and fit new, fit ac pump, new ac pressure sensor, change pas pipes and pas reservoir includes parts

Total 6,769.48 plus fuel, this is higher than the man maths figure of 4,000 in my head.

I'm going with zero depreciation over the year maybe even small appreciation.

This year, tyres, brake discs and pads. Will update in a year to see how we do.

    Hey Peter

Useful report - I'll do the same in due course.

Who did the mechanicals for you?

    best

Hi Robin, the simple mechanicals were done by a mechanic buddy with me passing the spanner, the annual service, specialist stuff and AC diagnosis was performed by Adam Eyre in Knutsford, Cheshire, highly recommended.

The typical maintenance cost for a vehicle (any car) is about 2% of the new cost per year. NOTE: that does not include deferred maintenance because it would theoretically have been done in another year. Assuming these were around $350K new, you should expect about $7K per year for maintenance. There is some variance of that 2% number by car/make/model but it isn't very much.

This statement should be on a T-Shirt and a pinned thread here in FChat IMHO :)

Ball joints are a drag, but not totally out of line for a 16 year old car. Hill makes some better than OEM parts for this and tie rods. All the rest of the stuff are little things the last owner ignored. You'll be fine after you sort it out!
