I am about to take delivery of my 488 Coupe later this year and was wondering about the Novitec ECU tune that brings that power to 770+

Has anybody done this to their car? How is the powerband and reliability?

Also is this ECU tune a flash or a piggyback module?

im told its another ecu u can swap before u go into the dealer without them detecting it.
im looking into this too, its so cost effective, but i worry with the new ECUs in a modern ferrari that u wont be able to erase the peak boost figures embedded into the computer sensors even when u swap.

Why don't you take the 488 as it is and try it first - there is enough power, believe me!

    Hey Carlo!

Good to hear from you as well! I'll let you know if I am in the area again!

Haha I've driven the car before and it feels much faster than the 458. However I keep reading that my McLaren 650S is still faster? I want to extract the most performance out of it.

This is a piggyback module. I ran it on my 488 and had no issues. I have done more upgrades now and have pulled it off so If your wanting to do it DM me and I can help you out. Over a great piece only complaint was it seemed to lower redline a few hundred RPM as a safety ....Congrats on new car.

You must be reading the wrong things then, since the 488 is actually slightly faster.

No, according to this (you very often quoted zeperfs.com) source, the 650s has the lead up to 200kmh and 300kmh.

Yeah, I'm actually amazed that there isn't a couple of videos of the 650s vs 488. Unfortunately I can't make the next Shift Sector event, otherwise I'd try and take a few. The other challenge is almost every car at these 1/2 mile events are modified.

    675 beats 650, and 650 beats 12c. Deduction.

Not sure I've seen direct comp either. We have a 650s.

Still interesting that's not one video out there in the 2 biggest rivals in the market. Stock to stock of course.

I have a 650S Spider with Sport Cats. I raced my friends 675LT 3 times, rolling start. We are literally dead even from 60-140. I think if we went faster he might be 1/4 or 1/2 car length ahead. I am pretty sure my 650S would smoke a 488.

Maybe, but didnt expect the 675lt to open the gap over the 488 gtb as on the vid shown, that quickly.

I know when I posted my race results between my tuned TTS and my 488 I end up with all kinds of forum members calling Bullsh*t on the results, and thats even when posting the video results.

I'm not sure why results seem to be so wide spread, but obviously your results with a 675LT don't make any sense. Every video review and publication says the 675LT crushes the 650s. That being say, I believe you, even though it would be nice to have video's of those races.

As I've said many times, how can there not be a single legitimate video of the 650s vs the 488 GTB? These are the 2 largest rivals in the industry today. You'd think McLaren would have published one by now just to put a huge feather in their cap, especially if the 650s in definitively faster.

In conclusion, I have no idea how my 488 would fair against the 650s, but I can definitely attest to the fact that my tuned TTS beat a stock 650s twice in a half mile event. I can then attest to the fact that my 488 crushes my tuned TTS. So, as Dustman alluded to earlier in this thread, you can draw a clear conclusion on how the 488 would fair against the 650s from those results.

Until I personally race a stock 650s, its all speculation. I think all things being equal, I wouldn't bet on either horse, just because it would be just too close to call.

I think your videos are from a dead stop though? That requires a lot of driver skill vs the rolling starts.

As for 675 vs 650, the 675LT is no doubt faster on the track, but in a straight line the numbers are pretty much identical.

I would be curious to race your TTS or 488 against my 650s. I am located in Norcal though :(

If you ever make it up here or if I am down there I will let you know!
