My car is a '21 and I did my annual service in April this year, I assume if there was a software update that the dealer would've done it then? Still no CEL's for me since the service.

What he said. Once you touched the ECU FNA will void warranty anything related to the power train even though reflash back to stock.
IMO, the best option is getting the second ECU and clone it and tune. You can do whatever you want with the second ECU and keep the original ECU for warranty work. The spare ECU is not that expensive as you would thought. Steve from Mase Engineering offered me with this solution and I couldn't be happier. Not only to avoid any error messages but the power increase and burble tune is amazing! BTW my car is the Pista.

$800 to protect the warranty on a $450,000+ car?
    Seems reasonable.

Why is this not the standard, go-to approach?
    What am I missing here?
Are ECU hard to come by?

Exactly. So many questions. That would mean all data is stored separately and when you plug the original ECU in it has no knowledge it has been absent. All the engine use stats are preserved. I find it difficult to understand this is possible with modern tech.

Hi I also have a 22 F8, full novitec system with tectonic and have had 0 check engine light, 0 issues. It's been flawless, I'm about to get an sf90 done also, my buddy with an sf90 also has a system with no issues. Sounds to me like your installer messed up and doesn't want to take responsibility.

I would not let the dealer update your ECU software

Not sure what's there to "mess up". We tried 2 different techtronics and the rear exhaust is a basic bolt on. The installer I used is an authorized Novitec dealer and every time I've been there I've seen nothing short of SVJs, 812s, etc. so I don't question their ability to install.

Separately, several sources including Ferrari techs confirmed that the 22+ ECU software is not compatible with the Novitec Techtronic plug-in. Perhaps your cars production date has the older ECU but SF90s and F8s I know from a few people that have reported the errors with the aftermarket exhausts without a tune.

You have to get it tuned to remove the CEL. You can get it done solely for the code as it relates to the exhaust without touching anything else.

I seldomly get a “high CAT temp” or something similar to that. Does not put the car in any “limp” mode and clears turning the car off then back on. Not sure why, I think in the 3+ years since I installed the exhaust, I have seen it about 4 times…

I got this response from my Novitec installer regarding the Cats overheating warning. Anyone else hear this?

Ferrari is turning on the OPF. I think they are doing it via over the air update. Some cars are being affected some aren’t. I figured out t a fix for the 812 but I haven’t had an issue with the f8 yet. The cats aren’t overheating!! It’s getting a bad reading and causing that to turn on. They aren’t getting hot, the OPF is reading it as too high of a flow so it’s causing that to come on

@StevenF8 so you are saying that Ferrari the manufacture has a way to track our F8's and turn the OPF/GPF sensors on or off? To me it seems since the car is tuned from the manufacture to run correctly with these filters in the exhaust flow that the OPF/GPF sensors would always be monitoring the exhaust flow through the OPF/GPF like it does for the Cat's too.

The Novitec dongle no longer works for newer software versions. We can tune the error off for you without adding power if that’s what you wish. Our software is also undetectable by the dealer.
