To use a phrase that is often used by the, ahem, younger generation that front bumper looks like a$$.

I've heard some car dealer lies in my time... But everybody has Google- right?

    That is freakin' hilarious!

    "We don't sell surprises"!

Could this dealer possibly be so stupid that he believed a line of BS from a seller or is he so stupid that he thinks that a buyer might?

Either way, this is one stupid dealer.

I have no idea how much a rough Bitter might be worth but these are actually pretty rare cars.

    Ahem..
    Abomination? Why?
I own a Bitter SC and a 400i so am qualified to compare.
yes, the Bitter has humble underpinnings and the front bumper is less than elegant.
Any other criticism I'd be pleased to address.

Actually the car offered here is a very late example, the first few cars were done with very poor quality steel and rusted quickly. Bitter recognized this and changed vendors, Maggiore did later cars.
I have some history on this particular car.
It is fun to read the tales, especially those of ignorant sellers, told about these cars.

Only two or three of the sedans were built and only a few more convertibles. That black sedan is the one I covet most.

I saw the ebay ad too and noted that the seller is relatively clueless. That said, I have always like the styling of the SC. It's ruined though by what's underneath. Expensive Opel... I can only relate it to the 1900 I beat the heck out of after inheriting it from my mother. Thankfully I had a girlfriend who put it out of our misery..

I apologize if I have offended you, it wasn't my intent. I was referring to the Opel portion of the vehicle not the Bitter portion. I worked on Opels of the vintage when they where current models and the bodywork and build quality where somewhat dubious in my experience.

I am a fan of the 400 series Ferrari's and other that the Bitters front bumper like the body style.

Not offended, it's my car not my wife. You are entitled to your opinion. hopefully it's based on some knowledge rather than just orphan bashing.
My "Opel" has required very little service and virtually no repair, sans a wheel bearing. It's lighter and more pleasant around town than the 400i and handles rapid highway travel just fine. The Ferrari is just hitting it's stride about the time the 3 liter Opel is starting to wheeze, the reason for the 3.9 in later cars. There is no comparing the engines, the Opel hasn't even a crossflow head.
I can't speak to Opel's bodywork but only the Italian coachwork of my Bitter which while typical Italian in that the builders seem to think the car will never get wet, feels solid, is quiet and to my eyes, beatiful.
Oh, the seats ARE quite comfy, you may recognize them if you've owned a Bi Turbo.

Great perspective. I'll try to remember it when my wife sets down the groceries on the 72 vette hood while she fumbles for the door key. LOL
