I had been holding back on this, and was almost about to make an apology post "oh, the Cali is not reall ALL THAT BAD" - and then the new R & T came.

It has a full-on side shot with the camera level at about 4 feet.

Biggest BUTTT seen in public since Elizabeth Taylor beached herself in Malibu prior to rehab.

Ironic that a Testarossa owner gets to say that about another Ferrari...

    Hello from Portugal!!!
    I agree with you 100% , i own a 88 white testarossa , i wouldn´t trade it for a california ...
The California is another car to make a lot of money !!
When will we see a great Ferrari like the Testarossa?? Huge 12 cylinder engine at the back?

They now have huge steel folding roofs at the back!

I too will be keeping mine with the big flat 12.

There is both good and bad big booty - and a lesson here for Ferrari.

Last night I read the new official magazine from Ferrari. Very nice magazine by the way. In there was an article about the California. Hey, this is where Ferrari can make all the right propaganda about this product. Finishing reading all I could ask myself is: "Is this a Ferrari?"...

Probably never again, unfortunately. I too have a white TR and very much enjoy her "hips" - the California it appears is built for a different suitor - one that apparently likes a little extra "cushion" and a well rounded bottom. ;)

I will wait to pass final judgement on the Cali until I see one in person. I didn't really like the 599's lines on introduction either. But having seen a couple now I like it - but it's no TR or Boxer...

That´s not a Ferrari , just a car with the prancing horse badge ! A fast car , with exhaust pipes like the new Lexus !!!!!!
I don´t need GPS on my Testarossa !!! Poor testarossa owners back in the 80´s and 90´s , without driving aids like ABS ,Traction control , only 5 speeds on the gearbox and that gear lever!!! Oh and a third pedal!!!!! No space for shopping bags !!
For all these reasons my dream car was the Testarossa!!!!!

The width of a TR's svelt LOW profile back end in no way compares to the frumpy "LOADED DIAPER" bulbous butt on the California!

I agree the rear looks questionable, but the front seems to have a nice agressive look. It is in the end a ferrari SL. But then most modern ferraris seem bland to drive, and lets face it a 360 or 430 spider is also mostly a pose joke car.

Maybe like ducati they will make enough pose vehicles to warrant producing some actual hard core cars again. Either way i think the stcokbroker pose market is going for a crapper so maybe ferrari will to find its roots again. I do not find this car any more offensive than the modial was or for that matter any number of pose cars produced by them in the 50's, and hey the volume might make a real ferrari possible, its kinda like ferraris version of a cayenne. Probably drives well though real men will go for a zr1, scud or gt3.

why don't they make an evolution of the TR for today's market ? It was the highest seliing car during its time and they made money (perhaps maybe not enough of it to reconsider). Then, we would all be salivating to get our hands on one.

Please reference the above post with illustration from Spasso - this is the lesson that Ferrari must learn before anybody goes Pavlovian on us...

Nobody wants to mentally image Sophia Loren with a dowagers hump.

    That´s right !!
I have to agree that Lamborghini still thinks that a super car needs a 12 cylinder engine at the back and doesn´t worry about practicality!!! Ferrari used to think like that !! I like the 599 but it´s not agessive as the TR series !

Ask anyone that´s not a Ferrari fan wich one they know and the answer will be Ferrari F40 and Testarossa , in 20 years they won´t say 599 or california ...
The TR and F40 were made to drive fast by true Ferrari fans , the new ones are great to go shopping , driven by rich womens!!
In my modest opinion , of course
