I thought they were supposed to get rid of the offensive part of their name and call themselves the Lake Erie Indians.

 

Would've been crazy if they doubled down and went with Redskins since that name freed up out of DC.

 

Geez, now every time I hear that name I'm going to think of that damned movie 'Guardians of the Galaxy'....

How about the Florida State Seminoles, Kansas City Chief? I even heard the Cleveland Brown may change their name. The word "Browns" offend the "Brown" community. Heck, Paul Brown was the founder of the team!!! Where is this country going with all this. Will the New England Patriots or the NY Yankees have to change their names. Will it offend people???

The Seminoles will stay that since they have actually gotten approval for the use of the name from the Seminole tribe of Florida. The garb of "Chief Osceola" was also approved by the tribe.

I wish that the native Americans would consider the fact that these team names are about the only time that average Americans even remember them. Take away the names and native Americans will disappear from other Americans' consciousness. Aside from the WFT's former name, I don't consider any of the other existing team names to be offensive, and I think they should consider keeping them alive.

 

Maybe the Guardians should consider bringing back Chief Wahoo, replacing his red face with normal flesh tone, and replacing his headdress with an Army helmet!

 

Rumor has it the Raiders will have to change their name because some Pirates are offended.

I personally would have named them the Cleveland Rockers to honor the Rock and Roll hall of fame.

And think of the fun when the Colorado Rockies came to town

the Cleveland Rockers versus the Colorado Rockies.
