Michael Mann, most famous for Miami Vice, has a new series on horse racing
debuting in Jan., now that it is out of the way and done with, has anyone heard if he
has decided to go ahead on Go Like Hell, the Ford vs. Ferrari film?
I guess other choices are Robert Capa story (photographer killed in Spanish Civil war) and Agincourt (English royals) I can't believe a guy who drives a (modern era) GTO wouldn't choose the one that involves fast cars, but hey, what do I know?

I like Mann's work and especially the extra thought and effort that he puts into his characters' vehicles. I'd think he'd be the perfect person for the job.

I spent 72 hours with Mann, watching him film a commercial for an S&L from Pennsylvania, using the Miami Vice crew, and my Porsche Cabriolet. His revised Miami Vice pretty much demonstrated what I saw in Miami.

He is not that good. Actually, he is terrible.

But the catered food was really good.

Michael Mann was one of the greatest filmmakers of the 80s and early 90s but he has sort of lost his mojo.

Manhunter and Thief are two of the greatest films of all time.

Still I would LOVE to see 'Go Like Hell'

Manhunter and Thief are two of my favorites. One of the most chilling performances ever was Robert Prosky's "Leo" in Thief. What a cast...Prosky, Caan, Tuesday Weld, Dennis Farina...

Manhunter is the generally unrecognized beginning of the Hannibal Lecter series, but with a cast that did not ovewhelm the story as, in my opinion, the later movies did.

I'd love to see Go Like Hell done as a feature length documentary, but not as an historical drama.

I wouldn't get my hopes up that Go Like Hell will be Mann's next film. The studios and financiers of Hollywood are being very careful these days, with budgets and what films they make. Disney shut down its Long Ranger film twice, rewriting the film to bring the budget down. Warner Bros has put their Akira project on hold again, as they try and trim the costs, which have already dropped from $200+M to $100+M.

Go Like Hell is going to require a large budget, the production is targeting a name cast, and this type of story hasn't been done in H-wood for some time. This isn't like shooting Fast And Furious 6.

I doubt we will see this film, at least not now, maybe down the road a bit.

I do hope we'll be seeing the James Hunt/Nikki Lauda/'76 F1 film Shunt, and if we do, maybe that will shake Go Like Hell out of the trees.

I agree that Mann hasn't scintillated of late (the Miami Vice film was ****-tay), Collateral was his last good flick, BUT his Cali video is great:
