I've got the 328 in for annual service at the local independent (flush all fluids, change fuel filter, and change out hoses with signs of wear). Got a call from my mechanic, who rang up just to say:

"You know, it's a joy to work on one of these that hasn't been mistreated. I'm so used to seeing examples that have been worked on by 5 different guys who don't know Ferraris, and I have to work through years of bastardizations. Little things that you might not notice, but that make my job more difficult. I don't see any of that on your car, and that's rare."

Wow. That really made my day.

Now that is good news!! Usually when the shop calls out of the blue, it is to say "Remember that estimate I gave you? Well, we need to talk..."

For me, a good day at the technician's is much better than a good day at the doctor's office.

Every exotic car owner needs to find a mechanic that enjoys his "work" more than "getting paid".

I'm that way to a fault in my home remodels/resortations.... I enjoy "doing the work" more than I actually value being paid.

I have a great life (live comforatably) and value getting paid a fair wage while at the same time creating things that will last for years..... as opposed to raping people for "$" and trying to sleep at night.

I know - it's wild, isn't it? Feels like the sort of Olde World place that will disappear if we don't support it. Almost makes you wish for your car to break down, just for the experience.
