There's something undeniably enthralling about watching a vehicle perform outside of its intended element. It's why we love seeing semi tractors weaving their way around a road course and rally cars bashing down a rock-strewn desert path. It's also why watching a Formula car dash around the snow-covered Nürburgring paints a big ol' smile on our faces.

When winter weather recently set in on Green Hell, Andy Gulden, the chief instructor for the Nürburgring Driving Academy went out to have a little fun. After a quick tire change, Gulden and the Formula racer were happy as could be flicking around the infamous track.

Gulden doesn't hold back on the accelerator as he tackles the course, either. Fortunately for us, he was kind enough to strap a few cameras to the car before he rolled out of the garage. The resulting video is a look at the Nürburgring as you've likely never seen it before. Hit the jump to check out the clip for yourself.

Very fun!! But they need to change the title, it's the GP track at the Nuerburgring and not the Nordschleife.

Also, are those helicopter shots too? way cool!

I guess you didn't watch the whole video. They ran on the Nordschleife as well.

Yeah it looked like the 24 hour layout. At first, when seeing that he was on the GP circuit I thought "that's pretty cool but not TOO brave given the massive runoff areas". Then at 2:51 "OK, he's proper crazy".

...would have been fun to have a WRC car out there for comparison!

TRUE! Although...the WRC car would have to dial w-a-y back to keep the single seater in the shot.

Awesome. He picks up serious speed on the straights!

I really like this clip as well. A bit older with a 996 Carrera 4. But really good commentary from the driver (unfortunately in German).

Fantastic. My next car will probably be a 964 Turbo or a 996 GT3 Mk1. I can't wait to try one of those with winter tires... That's how you learn car control!
