To get ticky-tack , the 2-valve i engine is F106B... (so not really part of the OP's F106A... question).

 

I don't recall who told me about the warranty engine swap. It was either Brian Crall or Steve Ahlgrim (or both since Brian was the one putting them in and Steve was the one selling the cars back then when all this was going on).
What sticks out in my mind was one of them mentioning that even some of the replacement engines burned oil too.

( A little Ferrari 2vi purchasing pearl - remove the tag on the rear and see if it is a little extra greasy behind it. Most people don't remove the tag when they wash their car. If it is one of the oil burner engines, it is likely to have residue back there)
