Correct me if im wrong, is there 4 of these babies in the country?
If so, there's one more. One came through Botany docks last week, a nice red example with no stripe, or so im told.
Its amazing what i hear that comes through the docks at Botany. My brother is a Customs officer down there and he has got quite a few stories. Like the one time where a 360 came in and had a huge dent in the bonnet and a cracked boot. Ouch.....
He said that they were going to get an Enzo come in a while ago, but amazing came in through Airplane at some insane expense to the owner. Aparently came packed with about a ton of foam around it!

I think there are meant to be 9 coming to aus.

Flying a car in is NOT that expensive. I've done it once before, and it's the only way i'd do it.

I flew my 360 N-GT Michelotto into Australia earlier this year. It is faster (obviously) and much safer than sending it by sea freight. The cost is approximately twice that of sea freight. In the context of the value of the cars that come by air freight, it isn't that big a deal.
I would always use air freight by preference,

Geez i was under the impression that air was through the roof. Are you sure there were 9 coming in? I suppose when u consider that value of such cars then it seem like the only way to go.
About the CS that came through Botany, it was from NZ, so i guess it kinda makes more sense, sort of.......

Quite possibly. Its amazing at how many really really rare exotics are over in N.Z. Seriously, there are so many. I remember that 911 GT-1 road car that was on ebay a while ago was in NZ, and also i have seen quite a number of Enzo's in NZ, pictures of which is have seen floating around the net. I seem to recall a number of mclaren F1's being there..... have you guys heard of this?

    i live in auckland.....

there was a gt1 here i auckland owned by colin giltrap, he sold it to a californian.

there is only 1 enzo. its red and number plate is "nzenzo" apparently a guy from the hawkes bay region owns it.

there is supposidly 1 mclaren in the country, there used to be one owned by the guy who started "noel lemming" retail outlets, but he too sold his car to a californian because he jsut wanted to drive his beetle.

the one mclaren that is rumoured to be left in nz is supposidly owned by the "whittiker" family, the people who make the chocolate? if u get that in aussie. its silver and from what i have heard recently crashed doing "100kmh" (yea right) and was repaired.

there was a carrera gt (silver) in the country but that has scince been flown out to the owners (colin giltraps) house in england.

Giltrap is also brining in a Mc. Merc SLR (silver) to be driven in new zealand.

unfortunatly there are no F40's here that i ahve heard off (would give my left arm to see one) but there is a replica with a lexus engine (pffft)

there is a red Stradale in the country which i saw at the showroom(beautiful) but im not sure the owner actually drives it. probably a show piece he keeps in his garage.

    G'Day to all you aussies.

I am relocating to Melbourne in about 8 months time and am bringing my car collection with me. I have heard story's of cars being damaged on ships and its better to fly them over. Could you give me some costs or advice. I have 5 cars coming. Ferrari F40, 360 Spider, 275 GTB Spyder, Aston Martin DB9 Volante and a Lamborghini Miura !
Also what are the car clubs like in Aus, any good, best ones ?

Any information would be of great help to a pom!

    John,

yes i have had a consultant look into this over here, and the laws are very tough about importing cars, especailly when the value is rather high. However, with most things, there are lots of loops holes and rather vaque rules which can be exploited. But yes i will get a heavy bill but not nearly as much as it should be ! I hope.

Will work on some photos for you guys as i like to share what i have with other genuine interested people !

    Chris
