Do they have to be made or supplied by VIC roads? Are transfer rego plates legal? is this plate legal? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Well as long as it can be snapped clearly by the revenue, oops, "Safety", cameras then I'm sure they have no objection..
thats what i thought. So what happens if like the above Porsche, there is no where to fit it. 1.can't cover the oil cooler 2.Would you be expected to drill holes in the bonnet? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
No different to the new 458, have to cover the Horsey. Get used to it, put a plate on or be prepared to get a 3 point penalty. Welcome to the nanny state. edit: don't the rice burners like the EVO have the plate mounted to the side.
There is nowhere on my porsche to put a front plate, without damaging the bonnet? I had the same issue with the Carrera 3.0l,got pulled up by a highway cop, asking about the front plate, nowhere to put it,he took my details never heard anything again. My understand with the old cars if there is no where to put the plate, then you can get away with it.
I had the same problem with the 308, it cost me 3 points and $1000 after going to court. They don't care about your problem Bobby, just drill some holes and mount it somewhere.
OH, and yep, even the judge agreed with me on that one Bobby but still fined me $100 to go to the Austin Hospital, plus my $900 lawyer costs (that was the $1000 result for me with no front plate). I know it stinks but mate we live in the nanny state so they need to be able to see the front number plate for speeding fines. In other states its illegal to photograph from the front for privacy reasons. For some reason Victoria has bi passed that. ****ing government and ****ing lawyers. I hate them.
yea right I'm gunna drill holes in my bonnet. At least with the 308,like the e-type you have a place to put the number with glue. The only place on the porsche is the bonnet, happy to do it with a non VIC roads transfer,as others do,but thats illegal. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Number one it's not an expensive car RB. Just having a lend Bobby as you do to us all the time. I don't agree with the whole front number plate thing either and trust me I was spewing with my experience. I've told my story many a time here so won't repeat. Will tell you the full story when we next catch up. Here's what you do. Stop complaining or just leave FQ and head north. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Just use a slimline plate and double sided tape. That's what Phil has used on my plate to avoid drilling into the bodywork. Yes PP that is the rear plat (full sized), just showing Bobby the plate attached using PSA. Image Unavailable, Please Login
that part of the car bumper.is to thin for the plates as they don't do slim line CH plates, maybe i should just put it on full rego and pay the stamp duty $16k to keep them happy. I can't wait to leave this State.
In SA you are required to have a Transport SA manufactured plate front and rear. No stickers, no third party plate, no excuses, no correspondence entered into. In the old days, stickers were OK and there was a thriving industry making plastic plates. Now the sign companies have been threatened with large fines for making numberplates - I know because I tried several. If you can't fit an approved front plate, you can't drive your car. If you have a non-complying plate on your car in SA, that just means they haven't stopped you yet. If you value your points, you don't mess around on this one.
Gee's I'm sorry RB I didn't realise this was an original Carrera. Congrats. I apologise for my cheap shot the other day. I didn't realise from previous converstaions you'd spend $400k on a car. I would ask VicRoads if you can get a slimline?????
spoke to a motor Police man today,he said that VIC roads do slimline tranfer plates,he also said its up to the officer weither they book you.
+ 1 on the double sided tape. My car appears to have never had holes drilled in the back and I wasnt going to be the first. They have been on for 3 years and are still quite sturdy. Image Unavailable, Please Login
