If you haven't driven the Nurburgring, you'd better get on to it. http://www.carsales.com.au/news/2011/nürburgring-facing-closure-23142
thats a shame due to a theme park and hotel complex. Some corporation will step in /Nissan/Toyota/Hyundai/Mitso.
Would give these companies the image boost they need, although Tata have probably blown thier budget fixing oil leaks on Jags.
Nearly, here's the plan, catch a plane to NY, drive to LA, catch up with a couple of mates on the way, catch a train to Canada then get on a ship to Alaska.
train trip sounds awesome. LA is a whole unless its for friends or a car stuff. Amanda wants us next year to spend X/mas in Paris then fly to NY for newyears eve,WTF I can see everything on goggle.
I'd like to rent a house in Malibu next Xmas/NYE for a week or two. Out of season but not too cold. Family loves LA.
just rent of some drugged out actor. everytime i've been there I've scene a knife stabbing or its cost me 1,000s to buy my ex jewelry that she then damaged like the ruby /rose gold 1920's antique Tiffany's braclet i bought her in Carmel, within a month it was all dented after her doing the gardening with it on.
Our plans fly Syd-Hawaii-Anchorage then cruise down inside passage land Vancouver.. from there we are still working out the permutations but end up San Diego v likely.. fly out LAX. On a prev trip some years ago I crossed border San Diego to Tijuana on self drive but they upgraded car from economy to luxo barge as apology for econo-box not being available as booked but that sort of car attracted all the WRONG sort of attention in Mexico side.. lucky talked out of sleazy traffic cop situation and headed straight back to border on being let go.
It's the one damn thing keep missing on! I lived (and loved) SF as 16yo for couple months but too young to drive.. thinking (might) go via SF so as to revisit Yosemite (can never get enough).. which case could go via coast to Monterey.. what section do you most recommend? North probably though? I'll have some sort of van though as it's a group of 8 all up to carry about! I can see separate non-family world trips needed to satisfy driving needs, eg Stelvio, the Ring etc.. got Italy on my own coming up before Alaska to start addressing that very need
I havent driven it myself, but was pax in a few different exotics up and down the PCH. VERY cool! Malibu Canyons are also really fun and scary. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Last time I was there I did LA/Santa Barbara/Carmel on the coast road, then over to Yosemite and back to SF. I haven't been north yet.
