Gents, 355s have a black crackle shield covering the top of the muffler. This shield is secured by 3 nuts visible along the shield's trailing edge. What are these nuts screwed onto? Are they screwed onto "upside down" bolts that will fall into irretrievable crevasse purgatory if nuts unscrewed? Or are they screwed onto some sort of stationary threaded rods that will remain in place without the nuts? Or something else? I need to remove these nuts as my Ferrari mechanic forgot to reinstall the underlying washers leaving unsightly pressure rings. Thanks.

The nuts are threaded onto studs welded to minor frame members. You need only worry about losing the nuts and washers that you remove ... :)
