New York's best restaurants will be serving three-course lunches for $20.12 and three-course dinners for $35.00 (beverage, tax and gratuity additional)

Savor the cuisine of the city's most talented chefs, and experience the quality, variety, and hospitality that makes New York the best restaurant city in the world.

I was gonna ask when the hell it became the year 2012 (last year lunches were $20.04), but then I realized it's probably a silly PR effort to promote our 2012 olympic bid. Ahhh publicity people.

I think this is a great idea....we should do some EC-style lunches & dinners...I'll make some reservations when we get closer to the date...

If someone doesn't want to eat, but just hang out and watch the others eat, do they still have to pay? ;)

Make those reservations quick. This is a blunderfu*& of time to go to one of the participating places. If you enjoy crowds, noise and caos I strongly recommend going to one of the places, otherwise pass on it. All the cheapskates are tying to eat in as many restaurants as they possibly can duing this time. Had clients at a place once during this event and we were laughing so hard at the total insanity going on in the place, thankfully I knew them very well.

fwiw i had the dinner a few years ago at a really nice french place. Sure, it wasn't their best menu selection, but for $35 vs. $350, I wasn't complaining. And even if you need to add a few things for $10, $20, whatever, it's still a great deal.

I think we should hit up a few places that we'd normally never go to (and, of course, that are reallllly good) -- any suggestions?

maybe they changed restaurant list this yr, i remember its all rather common places like brasseries, 8/12, tribeca grill and etc etc etc. i hit like a dozen joints at least in the past and the best was terrace in the sky, and i ordered wild boar meat from the regular menu which was amazing. good place like nobu only offer lunch and its always full anyways. but i'm down on whateevr for the ec hangout.
