I just watched a show that was on my DVR from last Monday - During one of the commercial breaks, a preview for the news at 11 (CBS) mentioned an upcoming story on how 'our highways may become more dangerous due to a state trooper pullback'...Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find any info about this on the web.

Does anyone know what this is about?

I believe they stated the story incorrectly. They are NOT pulling back on the State Troopers. But I think Suffolk County is reducing the size of their police force. This is being done thru attrition. Then instead of replacing those officers, they are just going to take their Highway Patrol Officers and relocate them to other duties.
I could be wrong, but thats how I interpreted the story.

    Good Luck!

Must have moved them over from the Taconic. Only saw two for the 100 miles I was on it, both directions, yesterday afternoon when driving from the Albany area. There are usually three times that many.
