I want to extend my great appreciation for everyone showing up on Sunday. The turnout was phenomenal and the effect on the rehab kids was unmatchable.

Just to let you know, the whole Rusk Rehab floor of kids (17) came down on wheelchairs...these kids suffer from musculoskeletal stuff- some are paralyzed waist down, others are undergoing physical therapy to regain muscle strength....

Kids that were not in wheelchairs: many of these were patients in the regular pediatrics floor (hospitalized for a variety of reasons- some serious, some not so serious, some now recovering at home) that were discharged in the past 2 weeks. I'm pretty sure that a good 70% of what everyone brought was given out to the right people. It's tough to control it to 100%, but....hey, we made dreams come true for A LOT of kids struggling. The whole hospital is still buzzin' about this event...and a hot med student friend of mine overheard a group of people talking about it at a random grocery store a few blocks away.

Thank you all for your tremendous support...and for the toys/gifts.
KENNY- thanks a lot for recruiting more cars, for your friends 600 FLOAM!!!!..and for helping me guide parking/traffic at the show.
ERIC- thanks a lot for leading a bunch of us to ROUTE22, and for your directions that got everyone else to the endpoint.
GLENN -(glennm19) for the INFLATABLE ANIMALS AND GUITARS: Jetcreations.com
and to everyone for all the great stuff they brought...there was more than enough for everyone.
THE HOT CHICAS in the SL65...whereever you are..think you're the daughters of the guy in the ENZO....and the superduper nice ENZO guy that let one of rehab kids start his car!!!

*****There were 78 cars, at peak
*****There were over 100 kids that showed (clown's count), including big group of Rusk Rehab kids, and a few geriatric patients. I visited the kiddos last night...they were sharing one anothers' pictures [btw, about 90 polaroid camera pics handed to the peds and rusk rehab kids in your cars- thanks guys]...and they were watching TV, awaiting the news broadcast, all excited. YOU CHANGED THEIR LIFE....THEY WILL REMEMBER THE DAY FOREVER ;)
******Best news broadcast was NBC4 @ 6:25PM..anyone have a link???

Again, thanks lots to all. Going back to the city with GDC guys was a blast.
Maaaaaybe this can be an annual thing. Alternatively...on a smaller scale- we can invite terminally ill patients to the hospital center, and then take them and the rusk rehab kids for a spin around the block....[[parental consent of course] on an early morning before going on a run [not for a long while to come].

Look forward to the next run!

I videotaped it but it would take me awhile to create a clip. I caught it at about 6:25pm on channel 4. I think the Caddys were at a show in NJ. If I find a clip before that, I'll let you know.

John (niptuck), I hope the kids enjoy the inflatables in the therapeutic center and I am glad to hear they had a great time. I lost two good friends, one to cancer and one to ALS (Lou Gehrigs Disease) and it sucks not being able to help them more than you want to.

Oh, and John, its www.JSholidaycreations.com (a small mistake, no prob). Also, check out www.saveourdylan.net. It's a daily journal of parents whose son was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. I found about about this family from a friend of mine who works with the father. It's an amazing story of what this family has had to face and the faith they have. Reading their story will make you realize how lucky you are.

John, great job you did in organizing everything, from the cars, toys, people, media, etc. Even the weather was fantastic for a change on a weekend.

I did have a chance to meet & chat with them and it was my pleasure. Very nice folk.

And just what's wrong with 4 doors????
It just means you have to hustle to open each door when you have 3 gorgeous women in the car at once. ;)
