Just curious who lives in Manhattan, where do you live, and what do you drive I've always said: owning a car in Manhattan (let alone a nice one) is a feat alone. I'll go first -- Naveed 03 Z06 05 Acura RL 300 West 108th St I know there are a few guys by me -- would love to go out to dinner one of these nights and trade war stories. -N
I just got back from a roadtrip to NYC, UES 70s is my location. Will be back in 9 days, wkend of 8/17. I parked under some tree where a bird craps glue onto cars. It can barely even be scraped off carefully...
Are you affiliated with Columbia by chance? I used to live on 112th St and Riv for many years. Nice to see that a bunch of us live on the UWS as opposed to the UES I used to live in the village before moving up here.
95th and Central Park West (ok I cheated, I lived there until Summer of '04) - Jeep Wrangler - 355 Spider - 550 Maranello
CPS nyc is such a tough town for car guys ...you got to be a masochist..( this is over and above the ususal "classic exotic" headaches the rest of the "normal" humanity deals with! f-cars in uws and nj
NYC: where parking for one car is probablly the equivalent of a monthly payment on a well appointed sedan. At least if you have an NYC address you can do the exempt thing. One thing I won't do is street park. Not just because I am afraid of other parkers, vandals, thiefs, and general imbeciles -- but because parking means you never want to lose "the good spot." You know; the spot you covet - right next to your doorman who can watch your car, AND it's good till Thursday! So now you've got the good spot, and I'll be damned if I'm going to drive the wife to her OBGYN! She can take the subway...I'VE GOT THE GOOD SPOT!! Still wouldn't live anywhere else in the world.
lol at the good spot comment. So true , I have offended many with no offer for a ride home. A five buck cab is cheap compared to losing the spot. Even more funny is the contraptions that people mount on their bumpers to guard them from parking by braille idiots. I love the small SUVs with the huge brush guards they install for that one purpose. It owould be nice to get sharp edges to do real damage to the braille parkers
Hah: "braile parkers." I'm not actually sure they even park by feel -- I'd say they go by smell (as in they won't stop backing up until they smell burning)! In all seriousness I actually use the bumper badger even in the parking garage. Despite having a brand new sedan, the parking monkeys still manage to ding my car up. I've actually considered getting that foam guards that go on the sides, front and rear -- never can be to safe!
