NYT: What Crisis? Collector Car Prices Soften but Don’t Crash

    I saw this over the weekend. A few thoughts:

    For the really high end collector cars, the supply of quality examples is still low enough that even a small drop (or no drop) in price is going to be viewed as a buying opportunity by someone who must have that car. A Ferrari 250 California is one of those cars.

    Quality matters more in this market than it might normally. Everyone who still has cash can afford to be extremely picky.

    The high end vintage Ferrari market probably was not as overheated as other areas (muscle cars, for example), so there wasn't as much froth to disappear when Wall Street collapsed year. Prices have slipped, but I would hardly call it a crash (probably because the cars I'm interested in haven't slipped much at all).
