Had a spin in one today. Absolutely gorgeous. Not that quick though but certainly gets the attention. Might swap my 348 for one!

Dare I say the performance and ride was very similar to that of an M3 but with the extra kudos. Build quality was superb. Would I have one?...Yes without a doubt but wouldnt pay the premium they will expect

Take away the AM package then no, but they will sell in droves simply cos it's an AM. It' not even close to the performance of a 911 which is the market they are aiming at but it does sound nice when you put your foot down! :D

What bothers me is i don't mind paying a premium over a 911 if you get performance or exclusivity, but it seems you get neither, there will be as many AMV8s around as 997s very soon as each UK dealer is getting up to 70 yes 70 cars per annum and at 80K plus it just needs more power

Out of interest, what do you find wrong with M3's?

I dont think he finds the M3 disappointing, in fact he finds it a very good car. What he is saying is that for an Aston and for 80k he would expect more.

I ordered two AM V8's a couple of years ago - went to a presentation of the car a few weeks ago and was suitably uninspired enough to pass both orders on to friends so they can take them on delivery in March. I'd rather put the money into my 275 GTB fund and carry on driving my AMG SL every day !
