    Ouch.

That seems to be about 10k under what most are up for at that age. Maybe more.

And you want another one? (Hopefully a classic so you want get bent over at sale time).

Yeah, I'm getting another one but a new one. It's the day car.

    9 or 8?

Are you going to put many miles on it? I have an uneasy feeling about these cars with Ford involved (production numbers etc).

I'm actually getting another 7 - one of the very last GT manuals. I gave my 9 allocation to one of my former partners in April (1st UK manual). There's more than the volume issue, the thing that's holding me off is the marketing strategy at Aston.

There will be an AM V8 Vantage S in around 2/3 years with the full fat engine in it. The V8 was good for 400bhp in the Jag it came from. Cosworth will have got at least another 50 bhp out of the redesign, so my guess is that AMV8 Volante Vantage S is the car to wait for.

Since I have "friends" I can normally get around the waiting list problem (which is frankly a bit of a myth if you can be arsed to look hard enough).

There's also a DB9 Vantage/GT/S/SR version in the pipeline that will stiffen it up and put more power out. I'd rather have that and in the meantime watch what happens to prices and demand.

The Bentley GT Convertible may change the whole dynamic if buyers switch away from DB9 Volante.

As much as the rear end is a bit...unresolved, the Vanquish S would still be the one for me. Potential gearbox issues and everything.

Will wait a few years and see how cheap they get. Then there's the DB4GT that I like.

    And a number of others.

Good luck anyway. Strange choice depreciation wise, but should be a nice car - do they all have that stainless mesh grille on the front?

I know, it'll depreciate and yes it's got the silly mesh. But I like the one I've got and the way it both delivers me to where I'm going and the warm reaction from others.

If it was the F car I was changing I'd be much more adventurous, but that's the next year's decision now we're heading into Autumn. Anyway if I changed the F Car I couldn't come out to play on October 2nd in London!
