I just found http://maps.google.com/ on another thread. It has satellite imaging for the maps with the best zoom I've ever seen. Find your address, then click on the 'satellite' button on the right side of the page.

Here's my house, lets see yours!

Here ya go. It's a actually a pretty secluded neighborhood, lots of trees to block the retirement village there to the east and no through streets.

My house still doesn't show up. It was built in '02, so it must have been a while since Google updated their sattelite images.

I ran out of time, but I drew in the trail and the race fuel accelerant fire pit of death. Not enough time to mark cows, burn-out marks on drive, Greg's tread marks through grass, and the post oak paintball target.

Mark's worst nightmare is the enemy aiming for the runways and missing or the directive to aim between the two runways and "you are bound to hit something."

I always thought it was curious that the Officers Club was basically at the center of a big bulls eye......... if the worst should happen though we have kegs and a 10 foot beer bong in a secure location.

Is it really only for officers? Do you hang out with non-officers much?

Yeah, I don't have a club membership (basically a credit card that gets you food/drink specials) but we have parties there occasionally. There is a seperate enlisted club that looks like it gets lots of business. At some bases there are combined O/E clubs but I don't really know anything about it. Probably 98% of my squadron are officers so we aren't really around the enlisted folks all that much.

The picture had 2005 on it but I wonder how old the data is. It doesn't show any buildings on our property (we've been there 10 years and certain of the buildings predate that). Still, it's an interesting site.

Looks like the images are a few years old. I think I am about where the red box is -- I can at least spot the pecan tree that is in my backyard.

Have you tried Keyhole? Basically the same stuff, but it works globally. Pretty fun to play around with.

Well, it I cant read satellite images any better than I can read maps. Finally found our place but it isn't where the "marker" shows it to be. Did find a house to the west of us that was built about 4 years or so ago.

Are you sure that you are that far to the North? I think a good guide is that shop at the end of your street to the East, but not sure which building on the map that is.

Pretty cool looking at that before Triple C was built.

Hmmmm, not sure. As I am looking at the picture, I think I have it wrong, because my tree is more in the middle of my lot, so maybe I'm a little off. Hard to tell without more landmarks.

Even our old place in uptown isn't on the map, so the images have to be over 3 years old.

My area's image is more than 6 years old ('98 & '99 built houses are not shown yet) And my old house is not shown correctly either. It's on the right street, but not right location. I went through 6 houses we lived in the past since we got married, and some more from childhood. It is fun feature, and somehow nostalgic, too.

As John mentioned earlier, it's a few years out of date and as Yoshi mentioned the location isn't exact - but with the zoom feature, I was actually able to locate a couple of our cows!

The other referenced imagery site has you paying for images :(

Pretty interesting stuff but also becomes a tool for those with other thoughts in mind. (not so good).
