    I want an old beater pickup. I don't really care how it looks as long as it's not completely banged up or rusted out. I do care that it runs well and always has. It's going to sit outside at the lake for as long as I own it, and I'll drive it less than 1000 miles a year. I'd rather buy it from somebody that's had it forever and knows everything about it. I'd prefer a manual transmission so I can teach my kids to drive in it five years from now.

    Oh yeah, it has to be cheap.

    I'm not in a hurry and still have to talk my wife into it, but if any of you run across something in the next few months, let me know.

    10 years ago I sold a truck that had been in my family for 20+ years. I could let it sit for months and it would always fire up on the 2nd crank. I wish I'd never sold it.

    I would stick to a Toyota or Nissan for this use. They'll last 20+ years and 200k + miles better than anything else.

    A 10 year old Tachoma will cost about $3-4k.

    A 15 year old Toyota pickup will be less than $2k.

    I'd sell ya mine for 5K, Jim, but you'd be a fool to buy it :D

    1996 Dodge Ram shortbed standard cab, 186,xxx miles, V6 stripper model, rear diff needs replacing, rear bumper bent from multiple idiots who couldn't see brake lights. Has a nifty cassette player and 2 speakers for the killer stereo sound. Auto-oilchange via leaks from all major seals. Washed every 8 months whether it needed it or not. Perfect truck if you're confident or egotistical enough to not care about impressing anyone.

    Heh. You should have seen the ad for my 328 when I was pissed off enough at it to try to sell it. I think it was something like: "too many miles, bad paint, leaks all major fluids, please take it away" :D :D I'm a lousy salesman...

    Jim, might be interested is selling my 2000 Mazda. I am considering getting another company truck and the mazda will have to go. I will probably do this in about 3 or 4 months. Currently 52k miles, AC,PS,5 spd, good tires, 23 to 26 MPG, 2500CC 4 banger.
