Got this Cooper S at the weekend, what a laugh, like a super-charged roller skate! Anyone here got one with the Cooper Works upgrade on (170 to 210) bhp, is it worth doing? Image Unavailable, Please Login
A colleague of mine has the works edition. He took me out in it and I have to say I was unimpressed with the level of power. I guess it must feel fast to the driver or something, because he raved about what a rocket it was. It just didn't feel all that quick to me. Maybe it's because I'm used to the F355? I'm sure it's as much fun as everyone says it is, it just wasn't as straight-line powerful as I was expecting. Ric.
My wife is toying with the idea. She 1st thought of an 04 Cooper, but we then noticed an 02 Cooper S for similar money. She very much likes the Grey Metallic too, but has not decided on performance over age yet. Looks V.Nice
ive driven one at my old place of work with power upgrade, did'nt like it the car was all over the place mainly due to the wrong wheel's being driven, leave it as it is.
The works upgrade gives about 190 bhp per ton, which is pretty good. Ive accelerated along side one in the 355 between 60-90 mph, and it was doing really well - faster than most BMWs thats for sure. Would probably keep up with a standard M3
Congrats on your purchase Andy Had my Cooper S for nearly a year now and think it is one of the most fun cars that I have owned. Comfortable cruising and great around B roads on way to station everyday.I took a test drive in the works and did not think that it justified the extra money when car is a 2nd(or 4th) car. Thought many times about changing it but haven't found anything that meets everything as well as it does ie servicing for 5 years only £100, can leave at station overnight without attracting attention (rules out WRX, EVO etc), relatively cheap to buy, 4 seats. Cheers Andy
