If I want to install a cat test pipe on an 89-328, and I want to facilitate the installation of the O2 sensors and the thermocouple sensors, where can I get a nut or a receptable for those devices (so I can weld them on to the test pipe)?

No reason to mount the thermocouple into the test pipe -- with no catalytic structure, unburned fuel can't be ignited. Just tie it up neatly/sensibly to the chassis in the nearby area.

For the O2 sensor -- do an internet search on "O2 sensor bung" -- should get you many possible suppliers of a weldable fitting.
