    Hey Everyone

    I have had the codes 1445, 1448 and 1449 showing up as either Diagnostics or Pending Codes on the OBDII reader over the last month. I have reset it 5 times, and one or two of the above three codes normally come up within the first 2 drives. However, sometimes 1448 shows up as diag/pending, sometimes its 1449. Sometimes its a combination, sometimes they come on as an individual code.

    I sent the car to the dealer for an evaluation/pricing estimate to fix the "Engine CEL". They came back with "Replace Oxygen Sensors front and rear, Replace Cat Temp Control Unit" Parts priced at USD 3000, Labor priced at USD 1000.

    My question - should I replace ALL oxygen senors (front back on both sides) and all 3 ECUs? Since I have been getting all three codes (45, 48, 49) from time to time, Im not sure if changing the side of swapping ECU will tell me anything as I still don't have a current confirmed location (I dont know if the right or left or center is not working) so there is no ECU to actually sway/test against.

    If I do replace sensors and ECUs, can I do it WITHOUT raising/jacking the car?

    Thanks

    Very easy. But it'll be best to get at them from the bottom. I use ramps. Just get the correct ramps for those beefy tires. Need a 22mm wrench. There's a clamp or 2 on the wire harness. I would clean up those electrical contacts on all connections involved with the sensors. I use Deoxit D5 contact cleaner. This stuff works magic! Start with the sensors. Then if it's still AFU go for the cat ecu. Good luck.

    You can get at most of this without raising the car and removing the engine interior side panels. Why not just jack it up and put it on jack stands? takes 15 minutes.

    Mine had all the same codes as yours. This data may help a little.....

    1445 = R/H side cat ECU / Thermocouple
    1448 = Bypass valve issue
    1449 = L/H side cat ECU/ Thermocouple.

    Swapping probes or ECU's will not help as all three are throwing errors. If your ECU's have black packing, buy new ones with the green packing and swap all three. I just bit the built and did all three ECU's, three thermocouples and the four O2 sensors.

    O2 sensors:
    Pre cat = Bosch 13819
    Post cat = Bosch 13820

    Buy these on Amazon or other locations.

    Maybe, if you are lucky like me, you get a new set of codes to work with along with the nagging 1445. :) The fun never stops.

    Get ramps. I put a few things under her just in case a ramp fails. I don't wanna be on a you tube fail video. If ya got thermocouple stuff going on. Once again. Clean the hell out of the connectors. When I had mine out for the Cat change I gave them a good steel wool scrub down. At least they looked pretty before I installed them. Ferrari is all about looks . I find it real hard to imagine a thermocouple failure. Funny, I just did a spell check. It came out as "thermonuclear" ! I guess it's worse than we thought. Pray......What the hell is the recall code?

    Jacks are primitive?? Really? They are far safer than the picture you posted. :) :) I cringed when I saw that back end up into the air like that without wheel chocks in the front.

    Hope there isn't anything in front of that car you are particularly attached to :)

    ...now back on topic.... ;)

    You can't see it in the photo. Also another jack from my Saturn under there. I'm not gonna go down by being crushed by a Ferrari. Also, once on the ramps I tried to push it to see if it would move forward. No dice. Also that thing called a parking brake was set. Still cringing bro?

    Also, what happens if I DONT replace O2 sensors/CAT ECU? I mean besides the CEL showing?

    Will it hurt the engine if the O2 sensors are not working right? Dont cat-less (straight pipes) have the same issue (no cat so no sensor so CEL)... ?

    These engines are expensive. In my opinion it would be well to fix this issue. The O2 sensors feed info to the ECU for the proper air/fuel mixture. To rich or too lean will create their own issues. Also note that most "test pipes" have ports to install the O2 sensors & thermocouple. That's a whole thread in itself. May or may not set a CEL. You can find O2 sensors for a good price if you look around. I highly recommend doing whatever it takes to get rid of the CEL.
