Just got my 99 355 shipped form Texas last week, and now trying to smog in Sacramento CA. My friend took it to 2 shops and both times when the technician hooked up the scanner, it locked up his Machine/Reader. He indicated that this had never happened before. What the Hell is going on?
Does anyone know of someone in the greater SAC area that can smog this without issues...

Not all scanners will work on the car.

I would assume that smog stations generally use expensive Snap-On diagnostic tools and they would be able to read any car. Does this mean that I have to go to a shop that specializes in Italian cars.
Is there any thing on my end that could be causing this???

They can run the test the old fashioned way! Tell them to get off their lazy ass, break out the probes and earn that $25!

It could be the ground pin on the OBD connector - there is a factory recall, I believe campaign 86, that adds a ground wire to the connector...
