Recently I noticed my 456M water temp gauge would show hot...and then it would cool down and be completely fine at 190 or so. The fans are in working order, I can hear them come on and off. I am hoping/assuming I just have to bleed some air but I am open to any suggestions (?) Perhaps it is a stuck thermostat.

The green circle is approximately hot it gets RIGHT before it levels out (scary) and then operates at a normal temp. All this is after an overheating event where the fan was found to be unplugged so I have been paying super close attention to the gauge...but I do not think this is related. I do not get any temperature warning lamp as the manual indicates may occur.

Depending on how long it has been, why not go whole hog and have someone power fill with new coolant and that will ensure no air in the system.

Agreed. Just need to get it done. Looking for my WSM to at least try the bleed procedure if it can be done simply !

Jeff- Pretty simple with the bleed valve up front. Makes a bit of a mess, but not too bad if you are quick and use a towel. Parking her pointed slightly uphill will help.

Air in the system. I guess you are having the heater on a bit inside the car so the coolant can circulate?

Correct, that is exactly what I did (turned heater on) prior to this issue presenting itself, I was wondering about the subsequent change in coolant routing but could not find any info. Thanks gentlemen. I will locate my WSM, find that valve, park on an angle and bleed it tomorrow !
    Merry Christmas guys.
