There was a recent thread about after market readers. I have an '89 Mondial t Cab. Sometime in the future, I will have a 360 Spider or its replacement. I am extremely computer literate, but do not have time for much custom programming. I am famaliar with most science equipment. With the different after-market readers, what can I learn about the above two cars?
The generic readers can do two things. 1) Reset the MIL (Check engine Light). 2) Read any code that tripped the MIL. There are 2 sets of codes: P0 and P1. The P0 codes are generic and not manufactyrer specific (ie, P0432= catalytic converter not at temp threshold). The P1 codes are manufacturer specific. Ferrari is very dicreet about the p1 codes and I have yet to see a list printed anywhere. So if yoy get a P1 code, you can reset it, you just will not know why you tripped it.
