Check out the A pillers on this 308 WTF??? http://www.sportauto.cc/D066fer83red/index.htm Completely redone for windshield replacement?
Not sure what you are talking about but it looks completely normal. Mine is a 83 as well. Ad car and my car
I know of a completely original 1981 GTSi that has black A pillars. (That thing is so original it has spiderweb cracks throughout the paint and the original factory installed cambelts.)
Actually there is nothing odd at all here. On GTS's only the A pillars were semi-gloss black from factory until only the late QV cars. The last of the GTS's had painted A pillars to match the body. Remember that most of these cars have been re-painted and it is a very common upgrade to paint the pillars during the re-spray.
The gts had black a pillars until 83 in 84 they went body color could vary with late 83 early 84 car. In one pic they look "flat" shape wise but it is the angle of the pic
The original design had black A-pillars to blend with the roof panel ("Targa" is a Porsche trademark) along with the B-pillar. If you check closely the black at the top of the B-pillar where it joins the C-pillar curves forward towards the leading edge. There is also a small indent in the metal as a guide even on the later body-coloured cars which also had the B-pillars body-coloured.
Guess I'm not very observant. I looked at my pictures, and almost all the GTS through 48491 are black around the window.
