If I was to own a tool room copy of an ITALIAN sports car it would be a 300S. Two of the finest cars of any generation to stay long term in Australia ...were The two ex factory racing Maserati 300S that raced at the 1956 AGP Albert Park meeting #3055 (Whiteford car) and #3059(Bob Jane car) The Jane 300S was the winner of the 1956 Nurburgring 1,000km race driven by Moss ,Behra,Schell & Taruffi. While as a factory car #3055 raced in 1956 12 hours of Sebring, MM and Le-Mans. Whiteford unlike Reg Hunt & Stan Jones , bought a sports car to replace the lago Talbot as in this period Australian grand prixs were formula libre events and he felt buying a top line sports cars would allow more racing .....thus more starting money and result payments. Whiteford the tales goes....was told by the Maserati factory team mechanics to buy the Behra car as the Moss car Jane ended up with after the death of Reg Smith had been driven and worked harder at the AGP meeting. In the 70s omwards in Australia several other 300S lived and played here ....Hunts #3063 and Kerry Manolas with #3072 #3074. Photo Whiteford car at Bathurst 1958: A TRAGIC meeting for Doug and the beginning of the end of his ownership of #3055. Note # The 1956 Australian Grand Prix ,was reported the Sunday race drew a crowd of 100,000 spectators ! Not a surprise as it was during the time period of the '56 Olympics.. I forgot to note that when the Leech bros sold #3055 the Whiteford car in 1986, two years latter Bib Stillwell bought the 300S of a American dealer . Such a special car along with her sister car .
Well it is still enthusiast car content whether or not it came from knowledge, google, hoogle or out of the bloody toilet bowl. It's great to see the inclusion of relevant material in it's appropriate thread..
I don't disagree. However, you need to be open minded (lol...as if)...but some people find different things interesting to others. One day, you might learn to accept that. Anyway, we can all google crap that we're interested in and not pretend that we're a tower of knowledge when we post it.
I could live with one of these Simon a Gordon-Kebble , with a current block and modern heads small block Chev . ...and you can remain being the sad, arrogant, unhappy individual you have become on here....just don't try to pass it onto anyone else.
Yeah it bites my clank any day of the week. That's why Peter Ullrich's CV8 does it for me and a few others on here...and it's in Aussie AND it's for sale!
I'm not sad. I'm happy. You're a mile off base. Arrogant? Well, it takes one to know one, right? Sig www.pless.com.au/mechanics.htm
Ullrich car the ex Targa rocket ship? Getting back to the Gordon-Keeble ...I knew the bodies were of Italian design ... Built by Bertone WOW and they were steel, I always took them for 'glass. Ideal for GAD, lets get Greg to buy us one ? I emailed Ian and said book me in for GAD,I'll bring the GTS SUV thingy...reply "Prefer you didn't " so its Black Jag again with fresh Avons.
Your post prompted me to google them lol Seems as though the first car was a Giugiaro design built at Bertone in steel. When they went into production, fibreglass and built in UK. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gordon-Keeble Great looking cars, love the interior
Just read the above ,so 'glass in production...they look tough without the bumpers .Gunna? 1,438kgs with a 300hp Chev they would be far from slow once off the line , I have soft spot for those cottage 60s English cars with American IRON.
Y'do know that Adrian posted up the GK a couple or so weeks ago don't you,the only problem was that it was in the 'How to cook the best goat curry' thread. You'd have missed that one 'cos you and Ian would have been having spa night I suspect!
So did I, but in the appropriate thread for the pedants https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/posts/148362858/
