    Unless they are someone who has succeeded previously, I would be weary. Just look how the life coach turned out on Nip/Tuck.

    But in all seriousness, what do you feel you need a career coach for? I think you would be better advised to socialize with people in the field you are interested in. Join some networking groups.

    I dont think it could hurt though.

    Our entire Sr. management team is using a coach right now. Its not really career coaching, as we are not seeking to change careers, but more like a managerial coach to work on our individual rough spots. Its actually been a wonderful experience and has built a lot of teamwork within our organization.

    Thanks for the input. I plan on networking in the appropriate fields, but I am looking to get some brainstorming ideas on potential careers where I can use my skills outside of my current job setting.

    Im sure the value of the input of the members here would be greatly appreciated with a list of skills for us to suggest things with.

    I have a degree in aerospace engineering and worked in both the military and civilian aerospace industries as an engineer. I am also a licensed attorney in the state of Texas as well as a federally licensed patent attorney. I would like to make a move back into the aerospace world where I can use my engineering and legal skills, such as an in-hous IP counsel or something having to do with strategic product planning.

    Have you thought about working for NASA, Raytheon or Lockheed Martin? They all have offices in Houston.

    Does strategic product planning have anything to do with risk management? I would think that risk management would be an area which large aerospace companies would have jobs, and as an attorney you might be qualified...

    But WTF do I know. Not much.
