I wrote this last year at some point, Im guessing while I was tired. Anyway, Im in a sharing mood. Try not to flame it too much.

Where in Appalachia? I used to live in Charlotte as a child, and still have family in the Lexington and Maiden areas (which arent really Appalachia). I also have a condo at Beech Mountain.

I am sure there is some autobiographical element in there. Shoes are something I look at when I meet people, I find even among the cheapest of the wealthy folks I know, they tend to spring for good shoes. Thanks for the good comments. Maybe now WriterGuy will let me write for TDM.
