Going over the forum archives, it seems many people here have been trying the Odyssey battery with good results. Because I park in a condominium garage, I don't have the ability to set up a battery tender/trickle charger and wanted to get opinions on whether this Odyssey battery would still be good for my situation. Also, my parking situation keeps me from flipping the battery kill switch when I am away for weeks since I do not want to leave the 360 unlocked and unarmed in the garage.

This main thread had a lot of good info about the Odyssey PC 925T battery

Near the bottom of the first page, "leead1" made some interesting comments regarding the great longevity of the battery in his experience along with a possible negative that the battery may be harder for the alternator to fully recharge.

From reading the product link, it seems pretty apparent the battery is very good at holding a charge.

In addition to it's superior shelf/storage life versus the OEM battery, does it also hold more charge quantity? If so, are we talking anything meaningful? The link says the 925T has 28 amp hours.

Using the factory battery, I've routinely been able to have the 360 alarm armed and not drive it for 3-3.5 weeks and have her start up. I do make sure though to drive the 360 for at least 1 hour preceding any long inactive period. With a driving pattern ranging from 1-2x per week to once every 3 weeks, I've had the OEM battery last about 2 years before it can't hold a charge at all.

With the Odyssey battery, should I expect to be able to have a longer inactive period (say 4-5 weeks) and still be able to start or is it that the Odyssey will be the same as the factory in that regard (3-3.5 weeks inactive max) but will last longer than 2 years before it starts to fail like the factory?

Ideally, I'm hoping the Odyssey can keep the 360 alarm armed for 4 weeks while still having enough charge to start up right away. If to get this benefit, all one has to do is drive the car more to completely recharge the Odyssey battery via alternator, I would be a very happy camper.

    Best Regards ---- John

Don't know that there is enough experience with that battery and car to answer all of your questions. I can tell you I just let my car sit for 3 weeks and it started as if I had parked it yesterday. 4 weeks shouldn't be any problem. I am quite happy with the 925.

As for more charge, the answer is no BUT this is a complicated subject. The 925 has a very low internal resistance. That means that is can source more short circuit current than a typical SLA battery.

If you were drawing low current until they were dead the SLA will win. The SLA however may not be able to start the car after x time of constant draw while the 925 may be able to. I can't tell you for sure, not enough time to try and calculate it and I suspect that it all comes down the the starter system's resistance anyway.
