    Hi again,

These OEM parts are confusing and maybe someone can shed some light. I recently purchased 308 qv distributor caps from Allferrariparts in Cleveland. Andy, very nice guy, assured me they were OEM but said they were not stamped Magnetto Marelli but shipped from they're source in Europe which makes the OEM parts. I just received them and they have no markings at all.
    Just curious.

    Any thoughts??

They are not oe if they are not stamped.

That said..and I could be wrong, but I don't think marelli makes the caps anymore. So the source could be the only one available. So in that case you, I and everybody else are stuck. If it works dont sweat it. Install and enjoy the car. Don't let a silly stamp on an ignition part spoil your day.

Thank you. I had a feeling this was the only option besides getting used or reconditioned Magnetto Marelli parts. They look like decent parts. I know there are quite a few that are not.

The original Marelli distributor caps have not been available as new parts for years. You may find some NOS Marelli caps on ebay or in someones parts stash, but be prepared to pay top dollar for them. The quality of some of the reproduction caps is poor. You would think that with all of modern tech that we now have that and old distributor cap would be very easy to reproduce with excellent tolerances.
I have found that the holes for the spark plug wires are not centered under the screw holes for the contacts, so the screws will not pierce the center of the wire when screwed in, causing no connection to the conductor in the wire.

    Motob,
Thank you for your response. I bought the caps from Allferrariparts and they seem fine. There is really not many avenues to buy these things. Dave Helms told me a technique that he uses; trim the wire and fold it back, then insert it into the opening and use a flashlight to lie up the folded wire, then insert the screw. This provides 2 chances to make the proper connection. It seemed to work well and I verified it with an Ohms meter.

I don't think it's a question of being centered. It's that the holes are not drilled deep enough. You just have to drill them a little deeper. Be careful not to drill all the way through.
