I searched the forum and it found no matches. Anyone have this info?
They're still building them, of course, which makes it a bit hard to get an exact number. Send NNO a PM and he could probably tell you.
That's how many 612 serial numbers I have - I'm certain there are more than I have. Sorry for any confusion.
more than 2,400 cars, Carbon. That figure does include the complete F1-production up to 157thousandandsomething
No one knows better than Matthias...! Thank you, Matthias. For those of you who don't know, Matthias is the modern-day serial number authority, having recently published a new book, Handbuch der Ferrari Seriennummern - which can be seen at VINbook.com.
included in the book's next update, either as online-subscription on a quaterly base in 2009 or as print in magazine-style, available in early spring 2009 To be serious, it's very obvious, that given the fact that the US receives approx. a third of the Factory's production, the number of Scaglietties in the US should be above 800 cars, truth has it, that it looks like that number is slightly below the mathematical third and is more around 600 to 700 cars. I believe with a look on the 612 and 599, that there is a shift in markets, especially on the 12 cyl. cars. Does not mean that they are selling less of them to the US, but markets like Asia, Russia and Arabia might have ordered more of them as they did with comparable cars in the past. A 612 suits the streets of St. Petersburg, Abu Dhabi and Shanghai very well, it's a busiman's kind of car. Unfortunately I don't have the complete VINs or the markets or the specific steering position of many of them, but I can undoubtable say: The total production figure up to date is above 2,400 cars and US-specs-cars are above 600 units. PS: Carbon, thanks for the kind words and the appreciation. You don't always have to go over the top THANKS!
it depends. Still has not reached total sales figures of the 456-Series (somewhat above 3,300, and a successor should be around soon or the Factory quotes the 612 OTO as a step in evolution, like they did with 456 and 456 M). We also have to admit, that the conditions are different from today compared to the 90's and that the Factory had and has ambitious growth goals (aren't they looking for a production figure of 10k + since they presented the California as additional produstion line?) and every successor should sell dramatically better the the model before: 355 > 11,000 360 > 17,000 430 > 20,000 +? 550 > 3,400 575 (strange enough) approx. 2,100, if you take the Maranello as the same modell (with the 575 been an Evolution of the 550), we would have to say, we can expect 6,000 + units of the 599 being produced and sold
If you want to call it a "niche", yes, but in a way, that was typical for the factory the past years. Main seller has been the 8 cyl., growth was generated mainly on the production line of 348, 355, 360 and 430 and less on the "real" Ferraris like 550, 456, 575, 612 and 599. The est. California-Production per year alone should be higher than the figures of 612 and 599 per year together. Statement has nothing to do with the car itself, either a 612 or a 599 are favoured by my wife and me to replace the 355 GTS as soon, as we find it too difficult and to make an exhibition of ours to get out of the car...
PS: here are the production figures since introduction and sales start of the 612 and you see, the share of the 612-Series is about 10 % 2004 2005 2006 2007 2008 (1st half) Total 5.027 5.409 5.671 6.465 3.506 26.078
by far F1 the most, those approx. 2,400 cars in my db split roughly into 90 % F1 (2,242 confirmed units) and 10 % Manual. I have to admit, that the 2,400 include all F1 612 produced up to S/N 157391 and that there might be a certain variance in that ratio, assumed that my ratio of covering of all cars is still working around 80 %. And, as I hear actually, the Factory does no longer produce manual-cars at all (I believe you can have it as an official or unofficial option).
I have 1,605 612 serial numbers, so I imagine Matthias has over 3,000 - probably close to 3,500 I bet. Indeed the last manual in my database is late 2007. But Ferrari's only consistency is their amazing inconsistency. Manual production of the 599 for the US stopped after just 20 units, and the car could only be ordered with the F1 transmission. Then one of the US members of FerrariChat just ordered a manual 599 - go figure. So I imagine that if someone really wanted to, they could get the 612 with a stick. Who knows? Let's wait and see what Matthias says.
