So I know sticky buttons can be remedied (either by StickyNoMore or StickyRx) and my general understanding is that in today's market that's about a $5k job on a 550 to do everything. (Sound right?)

But one thing I'm wondering is the bubbling/delaminating leather you sometimes see on the 550 wheel and glove box. I saw one thread where someone said they corrected it by putting gorilla glue in a syringe and injecting it under the bubbles before flattening. I assume this is not the approved approach. But by the same token, a Ferrari dealer quoted over $10k to fix the leather on the glovebox on a 575 because it "involved removing the airbag." Ummm...

Anyone have experience with this steering wheel bubbling issue? Is it an easy/relatively economical fix?

One related thing -- I've noticed on some of the 575s and 550s I've looked at (the ones without the leather parcel shelf) that the carpet back there seems to bubble and come loose as well. Wondering is anyone has bothered to fix this.

    Thanks!

I fixed the steering wheel bubble myself, and there are several threads here describing the process. Basically you remove the cover, take a deep breath, and just pull the leather off the cover leaving attached only in the center where the Ferrari emblem is. I then sanded off the old glue remnants to get a smooth surface. The leather holds the general shape of the cover, so it's just a matter of gluing it back on. I applied 3M trim adhesive to the cover, and started working the leather back down starting at the center emblem and working my way out. I did that last year and so far it's holding up great.

Probably not much use as I am UK-based, but I had the steering wheel in my 550 re-covered in 2014, as part of a major re-trim (I wanted to change from all-black to black / beige). Below is the breakdown, but my recollection is that the cost of doing the steering wheel alone was £300:

    Retrimming in A4208 Ferrari beige

Dash knee roll ,centre console ,luggage straps ,door panels and seats £3100

    Retrimming in A4208 Ferrari beige

Quilted headlining ,rear shelf surround panels £900

    Retrimming in A8500 black

Dash and binnacle , passenger airbag ,steering wheel airbag and net pocket

    Surround £1130

    Sub total £ 5130

    Vat £ 1026

    Total £ 6156

    And here are the results:

Nice. How's it holding up? I always wonder if aftermarket / upholstery shop jobs weather the (here, ten) years as well as factory leather work.

Amazing. Not sure I'd ever do that one myself but sounds like it's not too complicated and a shop should be able to do it.

Wonder if it's similar for the glovebox cover? The $10k USD (current!) quote from a dealer to smooth out the leather on a 575's glovebox seems crazy even by Ferrari standards.

Fine last time I saw it (2 years ago, on its way to a new owner in Australia). Some are better than others.

Air bag is not that difficult to remove.
TR leather dashes were famous for leather damage.
My 1990 TR interior is in perfect condition. Its really easy. It is never parked outdoors without a custom fitted windshield cover in place, no matter the weather. No matter how long its parked.

So after gently and very slowly peeling the leather back, making sure it was still retained by the centre Ferrari badge, I spent hours cleaning the old glue off both surfaces.

Be very careful at this stage, as the leather is very thin and could easily rip or tear, much patience is needed.

So after a few hours here are the results.

I then lightly sanded both surfaces..

This thread has nothing to do with the stickies.
