On my way to work this morning I had a fun experience. Heading SB17 near the first LG exit where it goes from 3 to two lanes around 7:25 this morning I was in the left lane about to pass a semi when this guy in a silver Honda civic with spoiler tries to blast by me on the right to cut in front of me to pass the truck. Problem was that i was only 1/2 a car length away from passing myself; he didn't care and just moved into my lane.... Didn't have time to brake so I had to swerved into the gravel and sand median to avoid the collision. His drivers door was at my front right fender! I swerved around in the gravel median, swerved sideways back onto the road, counter steered, car swung around, counter steered again and straightened it out. It must have been quite the show for the cars behind me. Luckily I didnt' hit any body or anything. Caught up with the guy, he laughs and gives me the finger when I get beside him and he swerves towards me again. I fall back, take a picture of the car, license plate and call 911. My luck no officers we on SB17 this morning. Get to SC and meet CHP there, make a report, give his license plate. Some guy out of Palo Alto. Officer says they can't do anything; they will forward info to SJ Police and they may send him a letter. Well, that sure woke me up and got the old heart pumping. The best part was that he kept pointing at me and the shoulder indicating that he wants to duke it out on the side of the road. Road rage in the making! I just passed him and went on my way to meet CHP. What a jerk. Fortunately I was not in my Ferrari
It must be Hy 17 SB. I was driving a few weeks ago and this VW van .. somewhat tricked out ... did the exact same thing, not to miss a truck but he just wanted to be in my lane (the fast one). This jerk blasted up the slow lane and then just made his own hole .. which happened to be where I was. I piled on the breaks, didn't get rear-ended fortunately, and then leaned on the horn. This jerk proceeded to flash these white lights on the rear. I actually got beside him and gave him the "freeway sign" and he just laughed and pointed at me. Had no cell camera at the ready and Summit was my turnoff so I bailed. Its one thing to pull in when its tight but to force someone off the road or to panic brake is madness.
Seen plenty of idiocy with folks on their cell phones so I wonder come august if we'll see some positive results on this new law. A white ford delivery truck did that to the car directly in front of me a few weeks back on el camino. Driver didnt nearly have enough skill to make it back on the road, but ended up ploughing through dirt on the side of the road stopping just short of a large oak tree. Van just took off after noticeably slowing down. Wanted to hunt him down and grab the plate and business phone # off the truck for the guy, but needed to make a mtg in downtown SF.
i know SC types ***** about those "over the hill" but honestly, most of those doped our surfer SCers are a bunch of whackjobs who think 17 is their personal run route. **********s
Thats why I think Its a good idea to carry a loaded shotgun at all times. The best way is to look around, if there are no CHP, just point and shoot. Works for me every time. Plus its always nice to see the look on their faces when they look down my barrel. its even nicer to see them get their little tiny heads blown away... Ahhh....the pleasures of life.
I love my 3-mile commute to work Bummer is, b/c the ride is so short, I rarely take my F-Car. It doesn't even get warmed up before I've arrived. Frank
Me too! +100 Bay Area drivers suck. It's a battle ground at times. I had some guy that had to show me that his 996 turbo was the better car. He pulled around the left side on the hard shoulder of 85 and blew by and climbed to about 160! less than a foot of clearance at 80mph. Assh@(#!!!
